Yes... TOTALLY different beast... if you want super high output, with some rich detail, and wonderous thunder, definitely grab the Het Set. It's a monster for sure. But the H2A's are so woody and smooth... they make me play SO differently (like the Rev Set), but brutal in a different way that...
Haven't done a demo yet, but worry not, it's coming!
LOVE these H2A's! Holy crap! The EMG Revelation Set was the first passive pickups I've tried in YEARS... love 'em. Low output alnico 2's and you really have to dig to get some bite out of them, but that makes them oh so fun to play...
Was...
I just chatted via email with Marc at Cool. He said he can't do custom sizes, but that the Ultra Cool have a sharper point (and is medium gauge, and has the grip. Gonna start there! Ordered some Dunlop Tortex III's as well (no grip, but similar to their larger sharp).
Thanks again, all!
Thanks for the suggestion so far!
I've tried the Flows, but they are just a hair too small... the size of the Dunlop Sharp is PERFECT... the back end feels like a 'normal' pick, with enough space to accommodate my fingers (with a bit of movement as I play and do different things - whereas the...
Hey all,
Haven't been on in a while, but curious... my favorite pick of late is the Cool Pick medium with their Beta grip... love the grip and feel and have been using it for several years...
Yes... I know it's the capture of a mic and speaker, BUT, since it's already captured that way, and then run through the onboard mic sims on the Nux... does it 'erase' or 'disengage' the mic option so you hear the IR (mic and cab) captured as it was, or is it still running through the onboard...
So, been in love with my ISP gear for several years... the Theta Pro IR's are proprietary, and no third party loader... no problem... love what's there.
But, for a small set up in another space in the house, I'm using my Theta rack preamp and needed an cab sim for my studio monitors, so I...
All the info is in the description, but the EMG Rev Set (passive) on one side, the EMG Het Set (active) on the other. The gain on the Theta Pro is down a bit for the Active work, and up a touch for the Passive. Using the onboard Vintage preamp which has a slightly spongy feel which is a ton of...
I love mine... I have two, one in my ISP Theta Combo (the other speaker is a sub-woofer - crossover to send lows to the sub, mids and highs to the 'regular' speaker) and one in the ISP Vector 2x12 (the combo without the preamp). It sound INCREDIBLE to me. My favorite speaker until I tried the...
^^^^^^^^
Here's the demo I did with the 58 in the bridge... SO happy I grabbed one. The 85 was my first EMG and used it almost exclusively for 20 years. The 58 has the chunk of the 85, but a great 'bite' in the mids to really cut. It's robust and definitely in the same 'family' as the 85 and...
I put a 58 in the bridge of a Jackson the other day and LOVE IT. Same full, robust, high output family as the 81 and 85, but sounds like an 85 with a touch of upper mid bite... super sweet.
Picked up the Revelation Set loaded Charvel again for reference, and this fell out... enjoy!
One of these days I'll try to do some 'raw' guitars so you can hear the pickups outside a song setting, but in the meantime, here's a proper vid to show off the Rev Set (and the Charvel, and the ISP Theta Pro) AGAIN!!! :)
A better version on the way... drums will have a bit more ambience, tighter harmonies, different ending... still a chunk that I improvised in the first take that I can't figure out! BUT, who cares! The Rev Set sounds so good...
Hahaha! THANK YOU. Really... considering the sheer number of killer players out there and almost everyone on this forum either being one or seeing tons, that's a helluva thing to say. Thanks...
(and I would probably pee my pants a little if they wanted me to do a video...)
