Best: Bought a Mark IIC+ on CL for $1100.
Worst: Bought a Mesa F100 on HCAF and arrived in worst condition. Good thing the chassis was all right.
The answer is no. I have both SC and non-SC Mark series amps and both produces the tone that's in my head. It all comes down to a matter of preference.
1. Being cheap on packing for high end gear. :doh:
2. People who don't have a spine and back out of a deal.
3. Offering lowball offers like a $500 off on the price.
4. Overprice gear because it's "vintage, rare or one off"
5. Saying excellent condition or mint when it's not.
Supply is driving the cost on these things. AxeFX, FX8 and AX8 are all out of stock so the rich kids don't hesitate to pay a fortune for these things. :doh:
