“They said if I told anyone, they would deny it.” Ritchie Blackmore got the loudest amp Marshall ever made. All he had to do was keep two secrets.

I bet. But, if I recall, back in the day, Deep Purple was in the Guiness Book of Records for loudest concert. They were using 10,000 watt PA systems. Then, The Who passed them up.

our 2500 seat church used 7 of these wonderful sounding industry standard EAW KF-850 3-way main boxes flown in clusters, each driven by 1600 watts

and 2 of these on the floor at 2000 watts each

we hosted concerts quarterly from 2005 until i left Cali in 2015.

hitting 100-105 db with our system was not uncommon for some of the hard rock shows we ran.

10000 watts is pretty conservative for venue that size these days.
Motorhead broke the all time record at 130db!!

When Victor from Mojave finished the Dirty Boy for Blues Saraceno, he brought the prototype down to our church and opened up all 120 watts on stage. it filled the room and even from the balcony that thing was LOUD.

Blackmore’s 200 watts would have been insane trying to mix at FOH with the wimpier PA’s of the day.

Yes I recall Purple and The Who being listed. I saw Purple mark III in April of '74. This was my very 1st concert. My seats were pretty far back so they were likely louder db's than anyone for the times. Never did see The Who but had I, my ears probably would have been ringing well into the '80's.
