Page and Hendrix made me pick it up when I was in grade school.

Kurt Cobain and Kim Thayil made me play it more.

Jerry Cantrell and John Frusciante took it to a different level for me.

Page, then Yngwie, then Lalond, then El Jefe, the Scofield, then Richard Thompson. Nowadays it's Knopfler.
