1978 - My first flight on an N-registered, fully restored civilian operated P51.

I vaguely remember someone telling me that these P51s were sold after the war as surplus for almost nothing with an extra engine.

Musics golden age. Late 60’s through late 80’s.
Great bands. Great songwriting and great years in general.
Much more positive people and mindsets.

Nailed it. We must be of a similar age. There are some great artists to emerge post 1990 but it's relatively rare IMO, compared to that 20 year span you mentioned when rock music absolutely peaked with soon to be classic albums emerging every year.

So where was the downfall? Hairmetal? Boy bands? Grunge? Death of Dime? Obviously Rome had to fall.. so was the golden era of music as we believe the end of the rock empire like Rome ? Multi factorial events? What happened to the kids of our day that have turned into kids of the techno crap empire? Btw I firmly believe we live in a decade for the rest of our lives. Music, TV, memories etc…. Mine is late 70s and 80s since I was a teen during those years. People ask me about music today… I have no clue who these people are in the industry. And I really don’t care . I want my old MTV and vinyl album lyrics.

Went from Rock and Metal and prog music to more or less comic book hair bands. Not all we’re bad but bad enough.

Grunge came along. And the really sad thing is grunge is 90% better than the crap they corporate music industry promotes now.

Kind of how RAP went from kids in the hood to big corporate money. It’s now a joke of itself.

But I think there is a lot of talent out there but IMO it’s focused on chops rather than on solid songwriting. Look at Boston Kansas Rush Styx etc. talented musicians working together.

Not a debut album, but Rainbow´s Long live rock and roll is another killer 1978 album.
Absolutely! I remember seeing Blackmore on a televised concert, (live between the eyes). different singer (think it was JLT) but that was me hooked!

...nobody is going to mention that it was the year Tina Turner made a comeback with her first solo album 'Rough' ???
