Of course they totally ruin the Evertune models with abalone

And also, why does the EC-1000S have rosewood and not ebony?!?!? They totally black it out, and then ruin the look with rosewood.

Wow $1349 and no cockstock on the HIII. There goes the interest on that one.

Yeah, I prefer the other headstock as well. Doesn't look right with the in-line set up.

Am I nuts or did they finally shorten the bottom wing on the Alexi models?

They will introduce the new ESP LTD Elite line up at NAMM 2013 and these are a bridge between the less expensive LTD's and the new Custom Shop and Signature ESP's. From what I can see the new LTD Elite is the old ESP Standard series quality which is very similar to Edwards branded guitars in Japan and are totally pro guitars and nice.

Like trying to spray some air freshener on a steaming pile of shit imo. Nice PR copy but the only thing I see ESP gaining from this is that they will save money while more players will struggle to acquire a real ESP.

LOL, such a positive crowd. The deal as I can see it is ESP wants to be known for super $$$ top flight custom and signature guitars and everything else will not be an ESP.

No more grey area.

I didn't realize there was any gray area. They weren't exactly Schecter priced. Their ESP Customs and Sig models were already high priced. They will never carry the ESP weight they do overseas here in the US. I think the fact that people refer to their LTD's as ESP's when trying to sell them speaks volumes for how ESP set themselves up here to be competitive. Going to be a hard road to haul for them IMHO.

Of course ... I'm not a smart man.

can you even buy a new stef 6 anymore?
no lynch guitars?

OK, I can be positive. I'm positive that this move does nothing to make me consider ESP for my next guitar. To me, this is similar to a Fender announcement that read "OK, you chumps, if you want a REAL Fender Stratocaster, the only way to get one is through the Custom Shop Master Built program. Everything else will be a Squier." I wouldn't pay $1K for a Squier "copy" of the real thing, either.

This has nothing to do with the dealer network - you guys are the ones that will have to deal with ESP's decisons. But to me, LTD is the ESP Squier. I'm not buying a copy of the real thing. And having to go to the Custom Shop to get it won't move me to get the real thing, either. What this does is make ESP similar to Hamer in my eyes. An "aspirational" guitar from a company that was really cool and is now only available on the used market.

no, we still get the extended lower horn. its not a matter of they won't do it, because they do (check out their Japanese and European models, even Edwards). Alexi's own, and the overseas models, all have the OG Jackson shape. but they improved it (IMO) by cutting away some of the body near the neck for easier upper fret access. Jackson will sue them if they ever bring the OG body style here...or thats what ive heard. seems stupid, maybe they just want to be different to be different?

My Alexi has the extended lower horn and in all honesty, i really could care less. its not a full V, and its not a Rhoads either. and i like it that way. plus its my favorite guitar.

I have an LTD deluxe ec-1000 and it plays and sounds great.tho,i am an Ibanez kinda guy,im lookin at an ESP 7 string in the near future.unless i dcide on a Universe.

OK.

Here's a thought...

I own 3 ESP guitars at the moment.

So if I hold on to them for a little while, this might mean IF I was to ever sell them, they may get known again for being HIGH END instruments, and carry a big price tag down the road, rather than getting lost amongst the sea of crap that has been LTD up til now. (I've owned several LTD's, and they really were the worst guitars I have ever played, and could not sell them fast enough)!
I will NEVER buy an LTD, even if they are now in line with the rest of the current Standard ESP line up...simply due to their not being a distinction between what may be a crap guitar and one with quality wood in most peoples minds (and yes, I know that a 1000 series 'might' be better than a 100 series).
I LOVE my ESP Viper, and my ESP M-1 (I have 2 of them).
In fact my ESP M-1 is my main guitar, and has been for over a year now...
I will continue to support ESP, as I do think they make GREAT guitars...

But in a way, This move will either alienate folks, or indeed improve the brand image.

But damn...some of these Artist models upwards of $4 or 5 grand?

damn...that's just silly.

So this new "LTD Elite" line is supposed to be "equivalent" to the ESP Standard. The ESP Standards were still made in Japan in a QUALITY shop. This new Elite series is LTD, so does that mean they are Indonesian/Korean?

I am curious as to where these LTD Elites are being made. If they are Indo/Korean, I certainly see no one buying them when they used to be able to get quality Japan-made real ESPs for the same price... :aww:
