Apologies if this wasn't unveiled at NAMM, but it's the first time I heard of it.

Looks like maybe a BE50, Jose and BE100 in the background as well. The guitar might be something new as well?

I’m pretty sure he’s mentioned in some podcast about a star parts guitar that he built/had made for himself, so it could just be that rather than a production model.

Anyone get any playtime with Fryette’s new Pitbull UL II?

I get the reservations that it isn’t a traditional layout.

The new features look appealing, but more curious as to how it sounds and if it delivers the goods

That guy Kohle Audio Kult, recently put out a video where he compares 5 or 6 high gain amps and you have to guess which ones he is playing. I got most of them wrong, except I did recognize the Rectifier. Anyway, he also compares the Friedman Jose and the JCM900. He said that the Jose sounds close to the JCM900. I found it amusing because Dave Friedman said the JCM900 was the worst sounding Marshalls in his opinion. I hope Dave doesn't watch that video.

I’m sure everyone knows this, but Steve Fryette put his VHT brand up as collateral for a loan. He didn’t repay the loan, so that company took the VHT name and ran with it, Probably 15-20 years ago now?

Court papers exist online for any skeptics. Lol it played out in the public eye.

Here’s a pic of my rig from years ago. Wish I still owned this stuff!

I also owned a 50CL without graphic EQ, a 50CL with graphic EQ, and a Sig:X.

Hmm, I never heard that. I remember stories that he was offered a deal for the name sold it but kept all designs and IP.

It all played out online, including court docs. He borrowed money and put the VHT name up as collateral. He failed to repay the money, so they got the name and started introducing amps with the VHT name soon after.

That article says he sold the name. I guess if you twist the facts just right, you could say that. Lol

It’s took inspiration from a 2 channel Triple rectifier. It’s boost is modeled after a TC and also has a TS style boost onboard if needed.

It’s a lot more than that, but that’s kind of true. Marks big on the orange vintage mode, and that was “kind of” a starting point. But, I highly doubt anyone is gonna plug in and be like “yes this is totally a recto”. The input/front end is what mark mostly enjoys about Rectos, they are incredibly versatile with boosts while most modern high gain amps give you very little flexibility in this area.

Haha, I'll admit that the marketing pitch could have used some simplification.

I think it allows you to get "machine learn" (bit lost with that part, how is that thing a computer) how a real cabinet responds when a signal is fed into it, and then dictate how much or how little that machine learnt impedance response is when you plug straight into the FOH or a mixer with the cabinet disconnected.

You can also have your IRs loaded in the machine, and apparently those will also be subjected to this machine-learnt algorithm that dictates how the cabinet responds.

I could be completely wrong of course, but this is what all that marketing spiel apparently means. To me at least, after reading that gobbledy gook haha
Thanks! Makes more sense.

The Jose definitely doesn't sound like a JCM900. I've owned both. It sounds like a hopped up vintage Marshall plexi.

It's a well thoughtout amp. If you're looking for High Gain, it probably won't scrath that itch for you. For 80's rock, it will.

Regarding the 900 it's a smoother sounding distortion than the JCM800 and has more gain, but not as raw or aggressive.

People not allowed to play guitar at namm anymore?

Watched this, the UL vid, the Friedman vid. Zero notes played
Agreed. Have seen zero from someone wanking away.except I did see someone playing that Red Seven little lunchbox amp. Didn’t sound too good in the video I saw. Sounded super thin and weak. Need a better demo.

I saw Sammy Boller playing guitar in one of the videos, so I think they are still allowing it. I sometimes wish they didn't because some guys just play leads all that time, which is stupid if you're trying to figure out how a new amp sounds. Rhythm playing is how you discover if you love an amp.

This is really helpful. It's hard for me to determine how much gain the Jose has, and that's probably the main reason I'm slightly hesitant to buy one. Most say it has less gain than the BE100, and I would prefer to not loose too much gain from that standpoint, as the BE100 isn't a super high gain amp. But, I also love the brightness and low end I hear in the Jose demos. Would you say the Jose is a tight amp, generally speaking? I know it depends on your pickups, etc.

I've played JCM900s and it's kind of hard to imagine the Jose sounding like those.

There is demo of Driftwood Atlas. I can't say good or bad through this demo. Seems like normal PN or DN to me.

From all the NAMM clips coming out, this looks like it might be the most promising amp this year.
