Just inherited a line 6 pod xt pro rack + a 200w power amp from '89 from a buddy who was offloading gear ... Any of you remember these things ?? I picked it up cause of its Meshuggah prestige. For a 23 year old modeler gotta say I think it sounds decent (my bandmates vehemently disagree lol)

Any of you use these in the past ? Got any tips or hacks ? It probably wont stay for long but I'm having fun cranking these knobs & seeing what the ol girl can do

These things (much like the kidney beans and the toneport plug in) can sound great.

Try the SLO model with the tube screamer, v30 cabinet - it sounds freaking killer.

The "treadplate" recto amp sim is great too

Time flys.. I remember on HCAF when the PODs were super popular.. The first Modelors??
Got my girlfriend a little amp with that tech. I thought it sounded like shit.. LOL

There’s one of those flextone or whatever they were called heads for sale near me for I think $100, was tempted to grab it just for fucks sake, I quite dig my ubermetal pedal

you can 100% dial them in to sound quite good, but its a SLOG

Like it takes hours and hours of carefully dialing it in - you have to be careful to save any preset that actually sounds good because it would be almost impossible to recreate it again

Modelers have gotten better at this, but some still suffer from it

I remember those. I have/had (it shitted out) a Line6 DT 25 amp that to my understanding had the same amp modeling. Sounded decent for what it was back then.

On the Line 6 monkey, do everything you just said but also turn on the chorus, rate to 0 but level up. It's a hidden trick.

I think the trick with the old tech is bypassing the cab and using a good IR. The IR is probably more than half of your tone.
