I have one of the Metro True Replica Cabs--bottom straight I am thinking of selling, it's loaded with English made V-30's but sounds great.

Are you near Atlanta? Not buying a cab I can't try first, sorry.

just grab the goddamn uberkab
in my experience, broken in chinese greenbacks sound just as good as 70's ones
rola G12M's sound smoother and fuzzier
reissues are a bit clearer and punchier
they just sound different, not worse

Like I said, I'm going with either a Bogner 4x12 (most likely their normal one, not the Uberkab) or that 70's Marshall. I'll know later in the week which one.

Hendrix was not using vintage cabs or guitars…all his stuff was new or a few years used. All the bands we look back on, Clapton, Page, etc were using new equipment. ;)

Uh...yeah...but have you priced an original lately? That's why the replica cabs go for what they go for. If current production cabs sounded like the old cabs from the 60's, there wouldn't be a market for George's cabs...or mine for that matter.

I think there are some great cabs out there without spending a fortune. Cough….cough uh em Bogner …Cough cough

It is cool that they can duplicate the vintage cabs and people are after them.

I paid $500 bucks for this Blackback cab at my local Vintage guy, by far the best sounding cab i've ever had, no need to spend 2K on a cab.

It's not a question of "if" you'll find one, more like when, if your looking.

Ahh, that's sooo pimpin!! Give me a few months...

I run a Port City OS 2x12 with a Scumback M75/H75 mix with my Marsha and think it's perfect, especially for home use and moderate rehearsal volume.

I tried a Marshall 4x12 too (same Scumback speakers)...I felt like I needed a 4x12, needed the look...and it was a little better when really cranked...but muffled and directional compared to the Port City during "normal" volumes. Anyway just a thought...

I see you're in Atlanta...if you want to drive to Tallahassee I'll sell you that unloaded Marshall cheap. :D

Which Marshall cab is it? If it's just a 1960, then I'll pass. Can find those everywhere for $300-$400.

I gotta chime in and say my Randall Lynch box cab (with Super Vs) sounds killer with whatever head I use on it (Marshall, Randall, Mesas). It's modeled after Georges '72 Hiwatt, and the Super V's after Fanes. Used it was $600.

Hmmmm really..... I might have to try the Super V's

Well, I tried that '73 cab with Creambacks. I think I liked the Bogner more. Those 55Hz Greenbacks have a lot of low-end. But, I thought the reissues with the Bogner cab just had more of what I'm looking for. Plus, that Marshall had all plastic parts. Plastic handles, plastic jack plate, plastic amp feet cups, etc. And the asking price was just too high for what it is. For $200 more I'm getting a new Bogner 4x12. Also, that Bogner cab is about twice the weight of the Marshall one. Not sure why. I could lift that Marshall cab with one hand. :)

The seller is confused. That's a salt & pepper (aka basketweave) cloth cab, not a pinstripe. Still, it's got G12H30 55 hz T1281's in it, and if they're good, the price he's asking is actually quite fair.

If I hadn't just bought a 67 slant cab with 20w G12M pre rolas (003 cones), I'd be all over this one.

What are 70's 25 watt, 55 hertz creambacks worth? Because the seller of the cab I checked out seems to think they're worth "at least $800, probably even more."

$500 to $600 would be my guess, a little more if it were mint.

No, I mean just the speakers.

Depends on the cone #'s, if they have any issues, and how they sound. This is just the raw speaker value, not with the cab.

014 (rare) around $250-350 each
RIC (more common) $150-200 each
444 $125-150
