-"ahhhhhh...... Too much low end"-
-it warms my black heart as I reflect & embrace the mere thought of having the problem of "TOO MUCH THUMP" as a long time Marshall/Marshall platform & predominantly Greenback user, I haven't had caster's on the bottom of a cab since the 8x12 two years ago & probably 15 years before that, I put the casters on the side..

-the reason manufacturer's give little to zero info on cabs is very few actually know anything other than dimensions & materials.... There are 2 prime examples of --"there's no way in hell!!... That was an accident!.. An acoustical engineer had to be involved!!.. The Evil, Super Genious!! the dark one! The ANTI-ACOUSTICAL ENGINEER
-case #1)-open back combo- at least your grandfathers AM RADIO had a back on it.
-case #2)-"A" or "SLANT" Cab,... If there's one thing, just one, that you want to be structurally sound in any speaker enclosure.... Makes no difference of its application... its the baffle, even a floating baffle,.. Ya don't cut it in half & point it in different directions!!! WTF!!! there's back pressure sound waves coming from every direction,... Ever wonder why they're the hardest cabs to mike?

Converting to the 60's style baffle bracing in the "A" cabs makes good bit of difference. I've done it on few 1960a's

-anything done to make it stiffer will help, what did you do, replace the 2x2 with A 2x4? I was gonna put a 1 piece angled baffle-(aka 80's MESA style)-in a 1960 A cab, but they're to shallow at the top-

-"A" Cabs benefit more than "B" Cabs from acoustic insulation

Added that vertical brace, and replaced the 2x2 with 2x4. That vertical brace is the main thing though.

I knew they cut down on the soundpost size to a 2x2, but they also stopped putting in the vertical brace on the slant? Do you have an idea what year the cab in the pic was made? Just curious to see how the bean counters are cutting costs again and ruining tone in the process.

I have a 1989 Marshall JCM800 cab and it does not have the vertical brace.

The cab in the picture was manufactured in 2007. They stopped putting the vertical brace in probably in the 1970's. Every cab that I've had built in the 80's on did not have the vertical brace.

Yes, they stopped putting them in years before your cab was made. You can make it yourself, thats what I do, pretty easy. I made the one in the picture.

I have a template at the house, I can give the measurements if anyone is interested.

Huh, I guess I don't have anything newer than the early 70's for cabs, but that bracing is important to the tone.

Totally agree. Someone should offer an aftermarket kit, would be stupid easy for anyone to install, and with all the 1960a's out in the wild, there is a nice market potential.

Exactly what i did:

After that, i changed many wiring and cables
