I just thought I should post it here since it's on the other two boards......
This is actually a preamp tube burn-in rig I build for Doug's Tubes.
He'll be offering higher quality preamp tubes shortly.
I'm going to build another, but this time add jacks, and an output transformer so you can plug in!

retubes are expensive/brootal, but 12AX7's do last a longtime.
Buy in bulk.

I'm just thinking of the 3 hours of changing out one tube at a time to get the culprit.... Or the tube experimentation -

Let's see, it sounds best with an RFT in V1, jj in V2, rubies in V3-6, sovtek in V7, eh in V8. That took four months. Now, only 4 rows to go!!!
Yeah, but with 40 sockets you can put every brand out there in it.
Half power mode?, PULL 20 TUBES!
3/4 power mode - pull 10 tubes... but in order to keep the circuit balanced, they must be tubes 2, 6, 10, 15, 16, 21, 29, 31, 34, and either 37 (looser sound) or 39 (tighter). WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T PULL TUBE 9!!!

Does that bump your $10,000 per-month advertising fees to $25,000 per month as you have stated in the past so many times ?

You should know better than to start your shit with me again,
that is unless you'd like the whole thing posted here?
You are David Gerlach, right?

I thought that was Kage's new boost pedal.

Nice work Doug.

You just got me thinking, an 8 channel high gain preamp.

I don't know Doug, I think I still might need a Plank Cranker in front of that.

I don't know what that is?

Check out the sticky at the top, new pedal by HBE to help assuage costs with runnin RT.

I am a sucker for over the top. That's the coolest thing I have ever seen. Are you serious about making it "usable" with the jacks and transformer? What the heck would something like that cost? As much as a whole head... me thinks. Or is it actually a head?

If I can actually plug into it, I want one.

Yes, I'm serious about building one a guitar can be plugged into.
But It's a ton of work, do the math:
40 sockets
80 mounting screws
540 solder joints just on the sockets alone
160 resistors
and everything else........

I'm curious at what stage it just goes full square wave? I think that'd be a fun experiment.

I appreciate that the build is laborious. It's still damn cool. The Recto slayer.

So, what kinds of controls are you thinking of? My curiosity is piqued.

How much? I think I had better start saving. *Step away from the forum, Scott. Just step away*

I dont even care that it works for tube burning, or whether or not you'll ever plug into it....

I NEED that fkn thing sticking out of the top of my Rack in the WORST WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D

OHHHHH!!!! all 40 Glowing at once!!!!! Im gettin excited!!!!!!!!!

It is cool to look at, and I could imagine it on top of a guitar rack
but I'm only into functional things so you'd need the high gain rack
version.
