I've always thought 10s are the way to go, even though I play 9s on everything else.....what say you?
I just grabbed a Black burst Agile 3010, came setup perfectly. Amazing value, this thing sounds great as well as plays as good as my real deal '78. Both have 10s, I'll leave well enough alone. Honestly played this thing most of the day today and stayed in tune perfectly. Thanks!CaseyCor":1kmconxk said:10s! I play 9s on everything except my Agile LP. I like thicker strings on an LP guitar, as it forces me to have to work a bit harder. You have to dig in more than usual, which leads to the classic LP sound (as I hear it, anyway). I used to do the same thing on my semi-hollow before I got the LP. I switched to 9s all around for a few years, after breaking my wrists a few times. 2 on the right, 1 left. Carpal tunnel too, from playing guitar for 14 hours a day when I was kid, haha. I'm doing much better nowadays. Now it's 10s for the LP , 9s on the Artcore and the RG770DX.
You could try heavy bottom sets on the LP too. I used to do that years ago.
Awesome! I love my Agile. I've got a Silverburst AL-2500 that is just killer. I paid less than $200 for it here on RT years ago. With the paint sanded off the back of the neck, it plays better than a lot of $1000+ Gibsons I've played. Direct comparisons with multiple people proved it, at least to us. It needs a pickup swap though. I'm packing it up so my wife and I can move on Saturday. I'll experiment with pickups once we get all of that sorted out.Racerxrated":18zhvn4u said:I just grabbed a Black burst Agile 3010, came setup perfectly. I just have a few tunes that I drop the E to D for, like 3-4. Other than that just standard E for me....Steinmetzify":xp93aao2 said:11-54s in drop C.
