I have to be honest... the whole "You probably didn't like it because you didn't spend enough time with it to find your tone in a unit as deep as the Axe." is getting real old. As if people know what a person's ability is or experience with effect units or dialing tones in is let alone how much time is enough.

Seriously... old or not it is what it is. Regardless to wether you know how to or not to manipulate frequency and tone, if you don't spend time with a tool that has so manny possibilities how can you possibly think you know how to use or work with it?

Like I said as if people on forums know what a person's ability is or experience with effect units or dialing tones in is let alone how much time is enough. You may feel you know that but I don't think you do.

I guess my post came across a bit sarcastic and that wasn't the intent so if I may clear the air and apologize if it was taken that way.

I have no idea what steby123's ability was befor he bought the Axe. The point I was trying to highlight was he spent the time to learn how to use it, that's all no attacks man... Like most here I to have owned and played through enough tube amps from cheep to silly exspensive to know what feels and sounds good and I still love a good tube amp I just don't have a use for one at the moment. For me the Axe and how I'm using it is a god send.

I understand the Axe wasn't for you and that's ok, I'm not trying to convince everyone if they don't spend 60+ hours to learn how to use an Axe they'll never get it. I just though it was encouraging that he was able to get to where he likes what he's hearing and took the time to actually go through each parameter to see what it does and not give up because of frustration. It sounds like he is content with what he has found tone wise and in the end thats's all that really matters any way agreed? peace ;)

Very content
There was moments where i would get frustrated and would have to take a new approach but it was well worth it.

...but no one will ever convince me it sounds as good and particularly feels like a good tube amp. Been there, done that. That isn't to say it doesn't sound and feel better than a bad tube amp.

Fair enough. To me, the Axe sounds and feels like an amp. As far as what's a good amp or bad amp, that's subjective. So we keep running in circles.

I'm curious what type of amps you play or played before you got the Axe. Also do you run the Axe into power amp and cab or do you do the FR thing?

Like everyone else here, I've had a ton of amps. Right now I have a Mark IV along with the Axe. This is my 3rd Mark IV. I run the Axe Ultra into a SS poweramp and then 2 Port City 1x12 OS cabs.

Before the Mark IV I had an Egnater M4 and Randall RT2/50. Back then I had an Axe Standard. I've had a RoadKing II, Studio Pre and Mesa 50/50, F50, Stiletto, Laneys, Marshalls, Carvin Legacy and V3, a JSX, a 70's Fender Twin, tons of stuff.

thanks professor for the spelling correction    hey I'm not trying to hurt anyones feelings or insult you just my IMO

Trust me it takes a hell of lot more than you thinking I have a bad ear for tone to insult me. I was just asking how the "it" in context of your enlightening post wasn't the AxeFX hence the "?" at the end of my question of the post you responded to with the "media" remark.

Did I call you out? Was I talking to you?

NO you just took offense. I don't know why? you can post your opinions.

I really don't care if you like the AXE FXor not so what. Don't play one who cares besides you. :lame:

Fine if you can't answer the question that's cool. People who stir the shit don't often don't know why it stinks.

The media remark was because out of a whole paragraph you quote one sentence and try to change the context of the whole paragraph.

Like the media does.

Look man, I'm sorry you don't like the Axe Fx. I posted an opinion just like every other person does on this Forum.

Don't wear your heart on your sleeve. Lifes to short for that shit

You need to go back and carefully read what I posted. I never said I didnt like the AxeFX. I actually said I really liked it for it's FX and for a direct recording solution. This a good example of the knee jerk reaction some AxeFX users have and just like the "You didnt spend enough time dialing it in." it's getting really old. What I did say was I just don't buy into the whole idea it can totally replace your tube amps and for me get the same playing experience.

Wear my heart on my sleeve about gear?

Your passive aggressive posts have been very entertaining at best..... so good for you on that.

Like mentioned...I would love to have one. But I got frustrated with my ADA MP-1 so I know that the AXE FX would bring me to tears!

One of my favorite demo vids for the Axe. It really shows off what a Standard can do.

Thanks for the thread, I learned a lot. The GAS is almost unbearable at this point.

I'm glad that you went for the SamHill setup. Now I don't feel so much like a useless fanboy.

Just wanted to thank everyone for putting in their 0.02! :D
