So ive had a 3ch rec for a while and find Im mostly using the Clean/raw/vintage modes . But these are not really strong parts for these amps, so what would be a better more refined amp? KSR, Fryette Sig X, Randall 667??? Still want 3 channels/ footswitchable modes 6l6's, fx loop ..

Go! Thanks!

If you want 3 channels and rectifier voicing, I think the only real options are a framus cobra or something from KSR. Uber's are 2 channel, archons are 2 channels, I think the laboga mr. hector is 2 channels also. Not a whole lot other amps with the same voicing as a rec. You could go a two channel rec or one of those other amps and look at an overdrive/distorion pedal for that third gain range that you need.

Thanks , I guess more American voiced than Marshall is what im looking for . Doesnt have to be Recto voiced , honestly i dont even like the Traditional Recto voice. 2chs with footswitchable boost would work too, just trying to stay away from pedals, hate pedals...

The KSR orthos .Clean / Od .but with ability to have a separate master and voicing switches.

VHT/Fryette Pittbull Ultralead

Hell yes. If you can get along with the UL, it will award you with some insane cutting tones.

Keep them coming, actually like some of the stuff im hearing on a couple of the Engl amps too. To clarify Im think a 2ch amp with footswitchable gain boosts on each channel..

Mesa Mark V

That's what i'm saving up for. Gotta have it.

Some Recto guys have grown to love the Diezel Herbert...

The original knuckleheads are kind of marshally voiced. The k-tre is darker and more grindy and is more rec voiced than marshall voiced, imo, though I do have 6ca7's in mine. I haven't played a KR7, though I'd like to.

Well, Fryette doesn't make any 6L6 based heads anymore. The Sig:X is not very Recto-like, though it might be my favorite channel switcher I've tried. I'd characterize it as being somewhere between a Bogner Ecstasy and a Pittbull UL. In fact, I think the Sig:X is what the Ecstasy should have been. But it is not recto-like when compared to a Roadster and Trem-O-Verb.

I hear that the 5150 III is a good alternative to a Recto. Also the Framus Cobra which has already been mentioned. Depending on your budget, you could go for a Soldano Decatone or one of the Diezels.

There's always the Road King or Mark IV/V if it's versatility you seek.
