The tone is the same, but the pickups have much more headroom. You don't get the compressed, dead feel EMGs can have at all. Very noticeable.

nbarts New member Apr 4, 2010 #25 Man, it's a good reminder, I haven't changed the batteries in my bass for a very long time. I've gotta do it before they die on me on stage. BTW, once every 3 months?!!!! They last me about 2 years each. Once a year should be enough for paranoid people.

Sure they last longer than three months, I went about once a year when using them at 9 volts. That was when i would notice the batteries starting to lose some voltage and keeping them fresh kept the headroom at its highest level.

NewWorldMan Well-known member Apr 4, 2010 #29 I have an EMG loaded LP that has probably seen 50+ gigs, about 10 hours of regular use a week outside of that...and it didn't need a battery change for about 2.5 years or so. But, I also unplug the cable when I'm not using it.
