Isn't there already an Atomica by another amp builder?

You really do not know the answer??? wow......................

Mark is the one who ripped off the amp labeled Atomica, not Jerry.

You go through all the legal stuff Brad?

Some bands name being used............

The amp was someone else's property..............

..............and never returned.........................

Good luck!

 Mark didnt end up with ATOMICA, it was sold off years ago from the music store mark worked at and then the restored to original with the mod being lost other than in Mark Cameron's head and notes. Guys have been trying to cop Jose for years, Mark just was fortunate to be able to spend a bunch of time with what was arguably the best one.

What booth # will you be in at NAMM?

Will be at the Lonnie Spector satellite NAMM Show Amp Show at the Ayers Hotel off of Katella. Lots of boutique makers setting up there where you can crank it up as opposed to the NAMM floor.

Oh man, that sounds cool. The NAMM floor sound police suck balls.

(we) Myself, Rob and Mark Cameron are collaborating with two of the best amp guys in the world, Dave Friedman and George Metropolois from Metro Amps to build these Cameron Mod amps to the highest quality and tone. They are gonna rule.

IMO, there are few better amp builders than George. I would not hesitate to buy an amp that he built. Very cool to have him on board.

I know the story and then some ;)

Agreed, Jose mods were all over the place and Mark was lucky to find a great one to tear apart!

No argument about what Jose was the best, we can only go by Curt and Mark's word and even then not many of us can play like they can!

There are other great Jose mods out there btw ;)

They are called Hose B mods

I did a "Panty Hose" mod before.....
Now what did that entail? Are you sure it wasn't patented? You could be subject to huge legal ramifications for that Steve even if the original modder was dead. His family could come after you for stealing his already stolen design.

Interesting thread. Had mark been better at communicating, I would have not called mine the Atomica. They can have it basically. I just like the name. I plan on focusing more on my 100 watt Classic Modern and the Classic Squared. By the way the so called doofus mentioned is a personal friend of mine and actually has a finely tuned ear for guitar tones. You shouldnt under estimate him. Ive seen his huge book of schems. How does anyone know if he blueprinted it or not???? This reposted story hits a sore spot for two of us here. It shouldnt even be used if at all possible.

Mine is a tribute to Jose Arrendondo and includes a clean, crunch and lead, all footswitchable. the Crunch channel is the Jose schem thats been floating around forever. Jose Arrendondo had cool tricks.

Ive already sold two Atomicas to a couple of guys here but I have no problem renaming it. Who knows maybe these two guys will have something of collector value ten years from now.

brad, if I were to order the jose attomica when would they be going out? and just to make sure , are u running the list or is jerry in charge again??

They should start shipping after NAMM, I run all things related to Cameron Amps. Jerry is not involved in the company.

Joe Holmes has a few.

I would keep the name, why not?

It links the amp to the one Mark used for his Jose mod, the name is internet legend :D

For what it is worth I would not be abole to make the atomica sound the way curt or mark could

Everyone talking about the Atomica amp... Mark told me not too long ago that the Atomica amp made it's way over to Eddie Van Halen (along with a bunch of other Jose amps). Eddie plugged in and after a few seconds, said nope, already have that sound.

The public story is that the amp disappeared?

I played EVH's mod from Jose, it is 10 miles from my house and another in another state, and it is NOT the Jose we are all talking about. No diodes but maybe 2-4 filtering changes. I know the amp is real because the guy was there in the shop when the mod was done. The guy is still tight with Ed, I saw a 1/2 stack 5153 in white that Ed gave this guy for giving him one of his EVH Jose mods several years ago. Stack was signed stating thanks for the fair price and being honest. For all I know the amp that Friedman had was this amp.

Lolzgreg can back this story up as he was there with me

Yes! I will definitely be looking into the new Jose and Aldrich when they're available.

ill be on board next month!after i get X-MAS stuff squared away.

you might be referring to one of the others, the atomica was demodded and cleaned and sold. Eddie needs to go back to that tone. and kick wolfie out..

You rang

There are so many silly stories and speculations regarding all of this cockamamie Jose amp stuff. Jose did a few different designs; some had diode clipping, others didn't. I have had the pleasure of playing two amazing sounding amps that Jose worked on. Both were SLPs; one had diode clipping, the other did not. EVH's amplifiers were FOR THE MOST PART not outfitted with these clipping circuits. The main goal of the circuit in the first place was to be able to get usable gain from the amp at lower volumes.

I was there with Scott... the amp had no clipping. Filtering changes were what made the difference and it sounded like an exploding Plexi. The "secret" is about using a variac and diming every control. That's the sound right there.

I have also played a handful of Cameron amps, and I really liked all of them aside from one. Psychodave's CCV sounds great, as well as Nick's Aldrich Mod, and Dave's sold HG Jose. They are all cool amps, but they do what they do. If you're after that Cameron tone, go for it. If you're out for the classic Jose tone, it's a bit different. If you're after the authentic Jose tone with clipping, there's really nothing out there that nails it IMO.
