I loved the single notes tone
thick and cutting
I just wish the chord rhythms sounded... less slashy?
:D

I guess they accomplished what they were looking for.

That guy always sounds so good! The self biasing is really cool, wish I was rich.

Sounds pretty fizzy and hairy to me in the first clip. But the second clip by Chris George has a thicker, smoother yet cutting tone and it does sound a lot better. Granted, the first clip is probably close-miked and I can't really bond with such tones usually...

The question remains if there really still is a market for a Slash/GnR amp at this moment. It's neither a modern nor a vintage sounding amp, and (don't take it too hard guys) the 80's are long gone.

BURP, the auto bias is cute!

hopefully the fan boys will dump thier Jubs to get one of these, and then i'll get a Jub!

slash didnt say it was self biasing he said YOU the owner could bias it yourself at home without a tech..... EL84 class A amps are self biasing not EL34 amps

I don't know man, I saw a dude rockin' a champion Camaro mullet with some knee high moccasin's
and a Faster Pussycat shirt on at the mall last night.

What he means is there is a feature on the amp that when you push a couple buttons the amp sets the bias for you. There's no opening up the chassis or VM needed.

I guess it's cool feature. But if you like to experiment with different bias settings, I don't think you're able to.

duodecim,

The 80's are long gone, yet there is something special about that time, actually 1968-1994, the golden era of hard rock. Well written songs, skilled musicians, and a record industry that supported long term artist growth. Sure there are exceptions but I doubt any band out today will have the staying power of GNR. 50 years from now bands from the 70's and 80's will still be listened to, I doubt the music of now will have that staying power.

While I do not care for that amp (I heard the prototype live last Sept. in Milwaukee), I am sure it will sell out.

Mike

Your kidding right?

Slash has a HUGE following, maybe you have noticed his umpteen endorsement deals?

He's basically the last superstar guitar icon to have come along. I mean worldwide...grandmothers in Istanbul know who he is. Obviously players have come along since the late 80's that are phenom's but not with that kind of universally known image and sound. Plus the 80's have come back in many ways but I'm the sure the 90's will too later...

Hopefully this amp will sound great in person. I've been disappointed in almost every Marshall since the JCM900's first came out and it would be great for them to reclaim what several modders/builders have been doing instead of them ie. Bogner/Cameron/Soldano/Friedman etc. No knock to those guys, I would just love to plug into a new Marshall that gives me that ear to ear grin, not just a feeling of "that will do, I guess".
