Oh I also recently read a great article by the original founder of greenpeace saying how inaccurate and full of shit "The 11th Hour" is. Isn't that another one of Al's pet projects?

Al Gore is still 1,000,000,000 times better than the current administration...

And I've still yet to see a seriously compelling argument otherwise, aside from a bunch of people yelling BAD SCIENCE BAD SCIENCE.

Want facts?

If you would read even articles published in your own country like the one by C.R. de Freitas of the School of Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Auckland in New Zealand, which was published in the June 2002 issue of the Bulletin of Canadian Petroleum Geology. Its focus is the ongoing rise in the air's CO2 content and what the consequences of that phenomenon might be for earth's climate and biosphere.

Fallacy 1: Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is increasing at alarming rates. It just ain't so, according to de Freitas, who notes that annual CO2 concentration increases appear to be leveling off in recent years. He also wonders what is alarming about the aerial fertilization effect of atmospheric CO2 enrichment, which dramatically stimulates the growth rates and enhances the water use efficiencies of essentially all of earth's plants.

Fallacy 2: Humans are big players in the global carbon cycle. In reality, says de Freitas, "anthropogenic CO2 emissions are only about 3% of the natural carbon cycle and less than 1% of the atmospheric reservoir of carbon." He also notes that the increase in the air's CO2 content over the past few centuries could well have been the result of earth's oceans giving off the gas in response to the planet's recovery from the Little Ice Age.

Fallacy 3: There is a close relationship between changes in atmospheric carbon dioxide and global temperature. De Freitas debunks the implied message of this myth, i.e., that it is changes in CO2 that drive changes in temperature, by citing many well-documented cases where just the opposite occurred, over periods ranging from months to millennia, reminding us that correlation does not prove causation and that cause must precede effect.

Ive got about 11 more if you want more than just BAD SCIENCE.

This thread isnt about those idiots. Pay attention.

Other FACTS that Gore's movie is full of shit :

Gore shows that glaciers have receded for 50 years. But he doesn’t acknowledge they have been shrinking since the Napoleonic wars in the early 1800’s – long before industrial CO2 emissions. Likewise, he considers Antarctica the canary in the coalmine, but again doesn’t tell the full story. He presents pictures from the 2% of Antarctica that is dramatically warming, while ignoring the 98% that has largely cooled over the past 35 years. The UN climate panel estimates that Antarctica’s snow mass will actually increase during this century. And, whereas Gore points to shrinking sea ice in the Northern Hemisphere, he fails to mention that ice in the Southern Hemisphere is increasing.

The movie invites viewers to conclude that global warming caused Hurricane Katrina, with Gore claiming that the warm Caribbean waters made the storm stronger. But when Katrina made landfall, it was not a catastrophic Category 5 hurricane; it was a milder Category 3. In fact, there is no scientific consensus that global warming makes hurricanes more destructive, as he claims. The author that Gore himself relies on says that it would be “absurd to attribute the Katrina disaster to global warming.

Thats what Im saying!

Has anyone here actually seen An Inconvenient Truth?

Listen Al Gore cherry pick his "facts" does everything for HIS political gain just like 90% those fuckers on Capitol Hill.

The only people talking the truth in politics these days is Ron Paul and Mike Gravel. Do yourself a favor and look thos guys up and read about what they have to say. You hear whats really going on.

I'm a registered independent and I want to see a true 3rd party so badly, I think guys like Ron Paul would jump ship for one in a heartbeat. Fuck both sides of the isle, they are both so far away from what they're supposed to be it's not even funny. Hardly any of them give a damn about this country or any of us, they've either been in Washington too long and learned how the game is played or they were just playing it from day one. But most people don't pay attention and therefore don't care, as long as they can go to their average job and drive around in their minivan and take bobby to baseball practice everything is just fine. Some crazy shit is gonna have to happen to make people wake up and really want to change things.

Yep I sure did then I did my own research and come up with stuff like this from people who dont have a political dog in the race.

Quote from article...."The human impact on the atmosphere is simply too small to have a major effect on global temperatures," Dr Gray said.

It does seem some facts may be exaggerated by Al...but to think that all the crap we are doing to the Earth has no impact...that's just silly.
My lawn furniture gets black dust on it from being outside....acid rain is beautiful. I'm not an alarmist, but we can't carry on like this forever.

I would love to hear this fellows whole argument, and I hope it isn't just so much invective and ad hominum like the press release you posted. I need to hear the science behind his viewpoint. I just listened to an Inconvenient Truth, and I was NOT a supporter of Al Gore by any stretch of the imagination but, his presentation of the facts is very compelling and to ignore this would be negligent. I especially liked his analogy to the smoking industry, when it comes to choosing honor and othics over profits, money usually wins.

So basically you said absolutely nothing about what I said and just called me "Jr" to make yourself feel better.

I didnt say anything because the post above mine that Nigel wrote proved your boy Al to be full of shit. Listen Im from Tennessee and lived under that dumb ass and you think he's a good guy because you feed yourself all the info about him that the media feeds you and you suck up all the stuff you already agree with....... go on living in your dream world.

The post above proved nothing, it just said in effect Al Gore is a liar who exaggerates and is full of shit. I could say that about anyone.......as long as there was no burden of proof. I would like to see some proof that Al spends 25K per month on home fuel, I think I could heat or AC the freekin astrodome for that.

Come on guys, how about we discuss the evidence or lack thereof of global warning and just drop the name calling and ad hominum attacks, those don't help anyone come to a more informed perspective.

As a registered independent, I would think you'd want to see no political parties. So people vote on the issues instead of the party-line?

Absolutely, that would be ideal, I guess I was taking my wishes in steps. Third party seems more possible, but it would eventually become corrupted just like the others. I would love to see no political parties, and I would also love to see Mullard el34's growing on trees, and 10 super models laying in my bed every night, and cold beer despensed from public water fountains, but I won't hold my breath. Excellent idea though.
