Am I the only one around here who actually likes T75s?

I know admitting this is tonal blasphemy and may label me a lepur, but fuck it, I actually like Celestion T75s. I have 4 of them in my 4x12 Splawn cab and I like the way they sound, in person and recorded, especially with my JCM800. I don't know if maybe the Splawn cab is just the perfect match for the speakers or what, but I do like them. A pattern that I've noticed is that I or somebody else will post something and people will be intrigued by the tone, until they find out that the source of the tone is T75s, and then the conversation dies shortly after. Come on man, if you like a tone you like a tone and it doesn't matter what makes it.

I will be honest I have never owned one, but I have one on its way to me in an Archon combo, and I am planning on giving it a try instead of replacing it right away. I figure if Marshall, and PRS are putting them in their amps, and cabs there must be something to it.

I actually heard somewhere that the WGS Veteran 30 is closer to a T75 than a V30

I've heard that the older vented T75 is a great sounding speaker and I'm always in the market for them if anyone's got some to sell off.

They are great if you give them some volume.

I think the complaints come from folks who expect bedroom volumes to sound like albums.

They are a backline choice for a reason and countless people use them and sound great every day.

This X1000. I had an 85 1960a with them, very fat and warm sounding with great mids when I ran a 2204 through it. They only made those vented 75s for a year or so, but even the non vented white label JCM 800 75s still sound great, way more mids than the 900 cabs and newer.

I've been playing through an old Ampeg 4x12 with T75s at our rehearsal studio and have been very impressed with them. I have a few in spare 2x12 at the house too and don't remember them sounding as good as the ones in the Ampeg cab.

Hate them. Too much strident high end. However with the marshall they were paired with and many others that copy that extremely mid forward design these speakers can pair welE
Still hate them. Would choose jensen EL over it any day.

Curious if you've played older JCM 800 cabs with them..to me they are night and day different than any JCM 900 or newer version.

i like 75's
both my marshall cabs are loaded with them.

depends on how old, the last time i played through one was probably 2000-2003. if you mean REALLY old then no, never heard them.

I think they sound great live and "in the room", but mic'd up for recording the midrange is just sterile and unmusical to me. They really cut and sing for lead playing but for rhythm I think v30s have more meat and pleasing midrange.

I think there are better options for recording, but live they are nice powerful and cutting, and no wonder they are still the most common backline cab.

The older ones are WAY different than the newer white/black labeled ones. Totally different speaker. I really dislike the newer ones , but the older speaker design sounds really good. MichealRT on here has a great greenback/ T75 comparison he posted on here a few months ago. Look it up... Its an eye opener.

-as far as c.p. 75's, I think they sound awesome mixed with V-30's- especially for the brootalz .

-wouldn't matter what speakers you put in that cab, or even what amp you through on top of it,...... if it's a V4 cab, its a monster of tone, one of the most iconic and still some what of a sleeper cab, definitely in my top 3 favorite cabs of all time!!

I have seen some clips online of the 5150III 100w with a 1960a and it sounds great. I actually thought about one for a 2x12. But not sure

It's been about 3 months now with my early 80's 800 cab with the original 12T-75's. Got a great deal on it from GC used. Sounds great with my 2204 and my DSL never sounded so good. I prefer V30's with my Shiva however.

^^^^^^^Those are the version after the original vented 75's. Still a great speaker and light years better than the newer ones IMO. I have a 2x12 Marshall Artist cab with the same speakers you have there, from 89 I believe and they sound great. The louder the better.

i like em. my 4-12 Ive gad forever has them.

i just became a celestion dealer. need any?
