Amp that "can't do leads" lead clip by vrad

I've got a Revolution One with a few mods and a Chadwick single channel. The new Nineteen80 is insane. Saving my pennies for one now.
The only problem with the white Tele is that I keep getting soot and marks on my clothes from it.
Trying to sort out pickups on that tele now, it turned out super bright.

Yep... I just put together a USACG HSS strat for one of my friends on the board here (grooveHT). He tracked down the parts, had it shipped to my house. I put it together, set it up and made some clips of it. I'm using it on this clip...
It's got 2 Dimarzio '61's and 1 36th anniversary. Great-sounding guitar.

They're great amps.
That's me... I was home from work today and decided to record a clip with a different guitar. Shreder75 wanted to hear the 36th Anniversary so I made a clip.

Great clip, but why does every Splawn owner outside of Curt have to make bad comments about the amp. They are good amps, but the comments by Splawn users never cease to amaze me.

Not really pointed directly at you vrad as you come across cool, but every amp is hated by somebody, so why do the Splawn users take it so much more personal?

Those are the only guys I know of on this board that own a Quickrod or Splawn. So where's the issue? Honestly, you can't have a conversation about any Splawn with it turning into a shit-storm or it being largely ignored. I don't know why that is. If it's not the weird mids, it's the stiffness. If it's not the stiffness it's the religious writing inside the chassis. What other amp gets that much shit for nothing?

What is funny is everybody mentioned above I have the upmost respect for and think you are all some of the coolest guys on the forum. I guess i never realized that Splawns got that much slack by others, they are great amps. I love Curt's lead clip he did, Rian does some awesome vids, Shredder well he is just kind of gay overall, Lord Toneking is cool as can be... Did I mention Shredder is gay!!!

They do... there's your Splawn police right there... I seriously don't know any other regulars here that own Splawns. They're pretty mellow guys. Shred, caught alot of shit back in the day, so he gets a bad rap. Trust me, he's a good guy. I'm pretty good friends with him.

So really, all of this is completely unnecessary and yet, people throw around "splawn police" whenever the amp is mentioned. They just wait for a fight to happen. Not sure why this is. It's just an amp. An amp buy a guy who provides a great product at a good price point and also happens to provide great customer service. Why anyone could find fault in that is beyond me. If you don't like the amp, that's fine, but some of the complaints are hilarious. It's kind of how people used to beat up on the Bogner XTC saying that it sounds muffled. Bullshit, that's also a great amp! Nothing muffled about it. But yeah...

I disagree about the XTC, i sold mine and one of the reason's is it does have certain qualities that come across as muffled sounding, at least next to a Fortin it did sound muffled. You can reduce the muffle by lowering the gain, but then you lose gain. That amp just gets to compressed with the gain up. Blue channel was cool though.

I disagree about the XTC, i sold mine and one of the reason's is it does have certain qualities that come across as muffled sounding, at least next to a Fortin it did sound muffled. You can reduce the muffle by lowering the gain, but then you lose gain. That amp just gets to compressed with the gain up. Blue channel was cool though.

Yeah sold mine too. I got tired of it and wanted something else. It depends what your ear adjusted to I guess. Did it sound muffled in Paige's basement a couple years ago? That thing sounded great. But I guess if your ear gets adjust to a more higher-mid tone, I could see thinking it's muffled. But it wasn't so much muffled as it was warm. It cut thru just fine in a mix and always sounded so polished when recording.
