I'll say Anderson because I own one, didn't Suhr copy T.A. anyway?
Nope not at all, the down sized body is something Tom did special for me at my request from the Pensa-Suhr days before Tom stopped cutting bodys and necks for other people and decided to only build.
Tom and I are the best of friends though, you cant go wrong with an Anderson, if I wasn't rolling my own I would buy one of his.
 Now that's a good man.

That is a very cool attitude. I am sure Tom would say the same.

I am fortunate because a nearby store carries both Anderson and Suhr so I can try both. I was looking for telecaster. I decided to go with Suhr because they offer the traditional tele type bridge which I wanted. Not available on Anderson apparently. As far as playability and build I would say both are even. Tone wise I didn't spend enough time on them to say. I will be saving up for a Suhr modern after my tele comes in, mainly because I like a 24 fret neck. Again, you can't go wrong whichever you pick.

I've never had the opportunity to play a TA. Love my Suhr.

My suhrs

My TA

I wouldn't say one is better than the other, both are really really great.

I play my suhrs most, since they fit better in the metal-band I currently play in (24 frets make it easier for me).
But if I want to really nail something, I take the TA. It's easier to play than the other ones.

Ok why is the Anderson called a "Drop Top"? Im a noob with the Andersons and Suhrs.

Whats up with the 2 strap buttons on the Andersons??? they look nasty!

I was going to sak that also. Not really nasty. Figured it has to do with the way the guitar fits and hangs but the lower one looks like it would cause the upper body to want to tilt out.

From the Anderson website

S" Family members are distinguished by their svelte double-cut-away body silhouette and 25 1/2" scale length - the ultimate "S" instrument, anyway you want it. Meet the group:

•Drop Top Classic - the resounding beauty of Drop Top but with "classic" Pickguard styling and tonal inclinations

•Pro Am - An unparalleled "S" Rock Machine, defined with your choice of traditional body woods and clean no-pickguard look

•Drop Top - Characterized by its beautiful exotic-wood top that is "dropped" or bent to create a swooping and comfortable forearm contour.

•The Classic - Customary "S" can get no better than this with your choice of traditional body woods and pickguard styling. We have taken the vintage "S" of your dreams and elevated it beyond

I use the upper strap lock to hook up to my strap, works perfect. And if you can't find a strap you can lean your guitar up against something and it won't topple over like a regular strat would with the button in the middle.

It seems to me that Anderson is the one coming up with cool new ideas.

It's just that, a maple top dropped over the body wood. I think the Drop Top was the first production strat style guitar to do this. I'm not 100% sure though.

When a guitar feels stiff it' probably just not setup how you like it. I've played plenty of Anderson's in stores that had higher action for me, or the neck wasn't setup to be just how i like it. Some Suhr's like that also. The majority of guitars though from both Suhr and Anderson usually just play great right off the wall. After that, some minor tweaks and you're good to go.

Errr...I know how to setup a guitar.

SHAAAWING!!!!!!!

I am leaning toward one of the TA Pro-Am guitars with just a satin black finish. I do like the exotic finishes, but I know me and I tend to destroy a guitar finish and its more about the playability to me. Not hell bent on body binding either. That looks like one TA has in his post.
