I didnt want to hijack the other thread on cabinets so I started a new one. Right now I have a Marshall 1936 Vintage and a KSR 2x12 with Creamback/v30. Im a bit short on space so I was thinking of selling both 2x12's and getting a 4x12. The Marshall is a bit large but it sounds really good and different enough from my KSR cab to make it difficult to sell. I do love my KSR cab but I usually only play one cab at a time.

I have a Mark IV, a KSR Ceres/PA50 rig and a couple marshall based builds that I will probably get rid of. Then I will be adding the new monomyth amp shortly. So really only 2 actual heads. I dont gig these days so being able to move it all the time isnt a concern.

What would you guys recommend? I was thinking of maybe a Zilla 4x12 or just going with a KSR 4x12 but I am not opposed to other ideas. I prefer the Marshall v30's and Creamback 75's over the Orange cab I had or the Creamback 65's in the Splawn cab I had

Maybe a Marshall vintage cab? AV/BV? Mesas love V30s and Shea’s demos are through those cabs I believe

I would narrow down the speakers first, and then put a magnifying glass to the cabs youre interested in and see whats going to give you what you want.

At least, that's what I did.

yeah I got the 1936 Vintage to use with the 2204 I had Shea mod. Maybe I will get a stereo cab with the Mesa V30 and Creamback 75's

Following. I still can't decide what cab to get. Im probably going to have to buy new and leaning towards Friedman.

I did find out today Emperor is back in business but there's a wait time and idk how their track record is.

I'm kinda thinking KSR cause Kyle is always good to me. The only thing is I'm not sure which speakers. I like Mesa and Marshalls v30 and creambacks. I kinda think maybe going for creamback 75 and redback combination.

Or I may say fuck it and get a super fatboy 2x12 and call it a day. Hell since getting the Quad Cortex I havent used an amp since. I'm almost tempted to just get rid of my amps and just go digital since I dont play out anymore

Dont do it man.

I did the same thing because I don't play out anymore and well here I am starting over. To me there is no comparison to a good tube amp and a 4x12. The technology is incredible these days but even with a tube amp the Kemper and Axe just arent the same. Ymmv

If your considering Emperor, give Atlas Custom Cabinets a look. Very impressive. I talked with the owner/builder and he seems top notch. I wound up getting a FB412 I had waited on for over a year, but had it not showed up I was going Atlas.

Recently discovered Arachnid cabs. TL;DR these are completely unknown and even more expensive than ANY cab on the market from what I can see so I wont be trying them out.

Visually they appealed to me right away. The story is the guy is a guitarist in a west coast death metal band. Apparently has a deal with Armored amps and uses Eminence speakers. These cabs are used as backline in a lot of the west coast metal festivals.

He uses all the good materials and they seem to be constructed incredibly well but I just cant bring myself to do it. 4 month wait, unknown company, not sure of any type of warranty plus the resale if happened would take a major loss.

I REALLY want to try but idk man, they should be $300 cheaper than they are. I'm sure theyre great but I can't find anyone who has even played one to attest how they sound. I think it's pretty ballsy to charge more than a readily available Bogner or Friedman tbh.

Anyway im rambling now but looking at this, hearing about Atlas and seeing Emperor back in business just reminds me of the horrible experience I had with Earcandy.

Unless you are reputable in the community I just can't see myself handing over money to build me something and praying that I get the item. Been down that road a couple of times and it is not fun.

The guys I am willing to do that with have a solid reputation and idk. Just a personal thing I guess but damn these cabs look killer.

I put a deposit down on a KSR 4x12 today. This guy was going to trade me 2 mesa v30 and some cash for my KSR 2x12 but I'm not sure that's going to go through but I was planning on doing to mesa v30's and 2 creamback 75 in a stereo cab.

So if the Mesa v30's fall through I need to figure out 2 more speakers. I am tempted to grab 2 dv-77 but they are back ordered everywhere.

What would be a good combo for the creamback 75's besides v30's? I play stuff from Interpol to megadeth to carcass.

Can't help you there but thats cool on the KSR order and congrats. I need to pull the trigger soon and may end up going Friedman. I know nothing about crossing speakers other then what other companies have tested and utilized (ubercab, Friedman with GBs on top. Etc) my guess would be the decible rating would be something important to pay attention to and keep them close but again I have 0 experience here.

Ive never played Creambacks and have wanted to. The 75s seem more my style but any time I do see someone mention them being in X pattern it is always with a V30.

I kind of want to go down the speaker rabbit hole but at the same time kind of dont haha. However, I do plan to finally try Scumbacks when he is settled in and has shit ready. Been wanting to try the BM75-LD i believe they are for a long time now.

This! Tried various top tier modellers (AxeFX, Kemper, blah blah) and found myself back at tube amps.
And yeah good choice. KSR all the way. Kyle is making some amazing products.
As for a match with the CB75s, have you considered the Redbacks? I asked the same questions as you and kept getting the Redback thrown at me. I've got a 4x12 incoming soon and it'll have an X-pattern of CB75/Redback speakers, so I'll know how it sounds for myself.

Yeah when you're not gigging and have some space you can make your rig as heavy and elaborate as you want. I sometimes play thru 3x 4x12 in W/D/W in madison square basement.

I think you guys looking for cabs should consider looking around for a good deal on a decent used cab since 4x12 are not easy to sell. Get a good baseline cab for cheap so if/when you try the more expensive cabs you'll have a comparison. It also gives you time to find a deal on a specific, more expensive cab. I know people buy 4x12s new but when I see the price of a new 4x12 compared to what I've paid for better/vintage cabs it seems crazy high.

Redbacks have crossed my mind. That may be the ticket
