(Another) New Mesa Boogie JP-2C Video

I don't understand this downtuned instrumental guitar music that a lot of this gear gets demo'd with. There can't be a market for it. Who uses those tones outside their bedroom for a YT vid? Do people gig that kind of music? Probably not.
Where are the clear mid gain tones? Switch some delays in and out of the loop. Is it too much to ask to play some chord changes with mid gain tones? Some stuff that most people would play at gigs.
Anyway, it sounds great.

They play guitar funny where he lives ...

After a long week that music gives me a headache.

Well most amp demos don't need vocals. There is certainly a big market for this kind of music.

But with that said I do prefer run through demos that show all of the tones, channels and features.

That is a combo that I have not seen before with the white grill. Very nice! Loved his LAC Ibby as well.

Also consider this: Mesa is making videos to appeal to who they perceive will buy this amp: folks who like Petrucci, and bedroom players that want a IIC+. Obviously those aren't the only market, but I'd wager more JP-2Cs will be played in bedrooms than on stages.

I mean, not counting the gigs I played 5 years ago (has it really been that long?!) my amps haven't left my house, and I rock a Roadster and Mark IV, plus quite a bit of rack gear.

I got to play thru one yesterday at a local mom and pop store plugged into a Mesa 4x12. I went in to to pick up my guitar after a install of some new Seymour Duncans and the owner said hey grab your guitar and come plug into this. I didn`t get a whole lot of time with it but man it was a great sounding amp , the cleans were beautiful and it gets all kinds of dirty tones , I was doing my typical George Lynch type riffs and it sounded really nice. I usually associate GL and Warren D type riffs with Marshalls but the JP-C does it nicely.

I think that clip is awesome. Great rhythm and lead playing without a million notes. Amp sounded killer.

i think the "bedroom" argument is bullshit. These days people have access to home recording equipment that sounds incredible and are making music. Isn't it about the music anyway?

I have to agree. I thought it was one of the better sounding clips I've heard from Mesa so far.

Not shitting on anyone in this thread...although it may sound like it... : /

But....out of all the video demos of this amp, are you sure you guys can't tell what tones are available to you regardless if you play in your basement, bedroom, 200 person venue, or 15k person venue??

The only thing that can't be interpreted in a video is the feel under fingers on the fretboard.. That's actually asking too much and can't be done.. Anyway.. Jon is a ripping/talented player...

Enjoy life amp nerds! : )

Cool Ibanez. Angel Vivaldi's a great player, no doubt. Tones sounded a bit generic, but kinda hard to evaluate for me. Staccato rhythms that kinda don't let the amp breath. Leads that were really fluid, but IMHO so much of lead tone is about vibrato and feel that it's hard for me to get a sense from an audio clip of what the amp is doing.

Yeah this video sounds great ! Not sure what BadRonald is crying about, there is another vid out there of the JP2c doing midgain tones. Besides people do play this type of music in this video live, not sure what rock ronald is living under, sorry dont mean to sound like a douche but I think we can all understand that some of use prefer lower gain type music and others love balls to the walls........ I rock the big balls !

There actually is a big market for it. And the best part is, many gear companies are listening to players that fall within this subgenre of prog/tech-metal because many of them know their gear. The prog/tech-metal scene is loaded with gearwhores and gear snobs constantly critiquing each other's tone and going to great length in the quest for amazing tone. But again, many gear companies are listening to these players. So they, essentially, are playing a nice role in shaping whatever gear some companies are coming out with next. It just has to do with trends and the way of the future.

Angel is my dude though. Phenomenal player.

I do. And you know what? Not trying to sound like a prick here, but I've performed this kind of music live to crowds.....crowds far larger than anything that you've ever played to (and probably ever will judging by your attitude of condescension).

It's not evident in one snippet of one song performed by one artist and you are complaining about it. Just stop. There are other demos of the amp that will showcase the "mid-gain" sounds that you seek. But when it comes to this particular style of music, a high-gain sound is required. So a high-gain sound is used for recording and at gigs. Quit your complaining.
