Hell no. I can't play 6

Decided to try 4 strings and switched to bass one summer. Thought would be easier..
The realized it was missing my 2 favorite strings

So I Couldn't play that and went back to fucking with 6 strings again

?Y'all are funny. Just get a six string bass, problem solved. :ROFLMAO:

Like the one Joe Perry used for the killer Back in the Saddle riff!

1963 - Wow, look at that space age looking guitar!

2023 - Man, that thing looks ancient as fuck!

:ROFLMAO:

I've had a few 8 strings but eventually sell them. My issue is when I play them for extended periods of time, my hand cramps. I have smaller hands and a down tuned 7 works perfect for me. Let's be honest, 98% of 8 string players don't use all 8 strings anyways ?

I’m thinking if I can swing it, I may string my 8 like a 9 and just lose the high e string. I might as well go all in

Thanks all for the info! I’m on a huge BabyMetal kick and their tunings are all over the place so I have to figure out what will be best for me. Lots of drop G and G# and then a handful of songs in double C# but I’m not ready for a 9 string yet lol.
I don’t think the 8 will really help me with their stuff but I could still tune down the other strings as needed

I could always just transpose stuff like this dude

I fuckin love Haken; especially Aquarius, Visions and The Mountain. I feel like their albums after that aren't quite up to the same level (for me), but they're still pretty killer

I tried 8 strings and just couldn’t get along with it. I’d either have the low strings too floppy or the high strings too tight. It was subtle but enough to bug me. If I went for an 8 String again I’d definitely go for the fanned fret which should remedy that.

I had an Agile Intrepid 8 string for a couple years.....just could never get used to that thing. Fucking huge and heavy as hell. If I played it for 30 minutes and then picked up a 6 string it felt like I was playing guitar on a pencil lmao

I eventually decided I'm a 6 string dude through and through; I use extended scale 6's if I wanna go low

I have one of the pendulum pros in a 10 string. I remember when I bought it from Rondo the ad saying something along the lines of "only weighs 11 lbs." :ROFLMAO:

When I play my Gibson SG it feels so weird. After shredding my 8 string and grooving I’ll pick up my Gibson and it’s like a violin . But I love jamming Page , Acdc , and Ratt on it and those classic tones

100%. even looking at the neck after playing the extended ranges gives me tunnel vision. Violin/mandolin vibes most accurate.

That’s why I only let my wife order small foods on date night
