I can't stand their singer. Cool music though.
If he would change his vocal style I would like them even more. He does actually sound really good when he's not making chimp noises though. The last song on Believe has some excellent singing on it.

Disturbed is a great Chicago band. My wife actually grew up with Dan. He's a good dude.
I heard hes from morris. That true?

I like Disturbed...certainly one of the better bands of whatever that genre is.... :-) Believe is my favourite CD by far.

I really like Donegan as a guitarist. Great rhythm player and tasteful in his leads. Great tone to IMHO. Yeah, his 1086 module with a boost does indeed flat-out roar!

Not sure if he ever lived there or not, but my wife new him from Alsip.

The Night is one of my favorite songs. I think his tone sucks but I like his riffs and solos.

Actually his main amp is an XTC 101B. He blends it with his sig Randall module for his main sound. He also uses the 5150 III and an Uberschall.

I like every other record they put out.
-First one was very commercial and a bit cheesy (sorry).
-Believe was amazing and under-rated. Ahead of its time IMO.
-10,000 Fists was half good and the other half, meh.
-Indestructible was great. Best guitar solos too. This one at 2:15 rocks and great XTC tone too.

cool interview

I thought Believe had a few good songs but was loaded with fillers.

I like them. I have a few discs. I really like 10 thousand fists.

Oh yeah. I saw Disturbed at one of the Ozzfests years ago and they as a band blew me away. THought his playing was great. Love the solo on into the fire, the diminished run at the end. He is a great player for sure.

Bringing this one back a bit...

This thread made me listen to their album 'Indestructible', and IMO, Dan has some AWESOME tones going on there.

Can anyone tell me if those tones are mainly his XTC or the Randall module? Which is more important to his sound?

Edit: Found the interview where he talks about his tones from Indestructible. He basically says that he blends the Bogner and the Randall. But the leads are definitely the XTC.

DONEGAN I usually play two rhythm tracks and combine them. I use the same guitar but I put it through two different amps: my Randall 1086 and a Bogner Ecstasy head. That’s the bedrock of my sound. I do some layering here and there, and that’s when I’ll try things through Marshall or Diezel amps. All the toys eventually come out. Whenever I’m tweaking parts, the guys joke around and call it “The Danny Donegan Orchestra,” because I act like something of a mad scientist experimenting with different sounds. It’s probably boring the rest of the guys to have to sit through all of that, but for hours I’m totally absorbed. Every pedal that I have, every pedal the studio has—I’ll just tweak everything out till we find the best tones and frequencies that sit in the mix.
