I have some metal picks but I always thought they sounded scratchy on lower strings. Tonite I started messing with one, but through my amp. I realized that scratchiness doesn’t come through an amp. and I was really liking the feel and tone. plus i’m guessing these might never wear down??? i was using an ice-pix. i’m gonna try some others - any recommendations??

I like mine, it's a titanium version of the Dunlop 420 Flow. I had it made by Otto at OHM picks, I'd recommend checking him out, mine didn't have any scratchiness that I recall, he does a good shop smoothing over edges. They don't last forever though, titanium against steel strings means the strings win eventually. But, he offers steel and hardened steel picks for a small up-charge if you want something more durable.

I could probably get used to the weird feel, but the tone bothers me - it doesn't vibe with the tones that I'm into and doesn't seem conducive to achieving them

They are one of those things that other people seem to make work, but I just can't

I don't like metal picks because I feel like the metal will chop away at my strings, lol.

I am a DAVA pick user and is all I use now and I got a metal edged pick in the latest pack I bought. It is actually pretty cool but just not for me. I could send it to you if you want to give it a try. DAVA picks are amazing IMO.

Dava picks are awesome, and the metal is thin and the bend in the design of the pick prevents it from being scratchy.

If you are using a thick metal pick, the best way to avoid the scratchiness has to do with string tension. 10 52 in e standard scratchy, Eb is not

The biggest thing for me with metal picks is that you can get a chirp just like on torlon. I have an ohm and a brass huffschmid and love both picks, but neither are my main bitch
Here is the ohm i had made for me

this hawk pick is my main one though
