Any SOAD fans?

We are covering a few SOAD songs (BYOB, Chop Suey, Toxicity, maybe Forest). I dig the shit out of Daren's live tone. Not shit tons of gain, but punchy as hell.

Used to do Aerials for a while. Not a huge following on the forums, but crowds seem to know every word.

Darren has also had some cool riffs for sure.

They're in my top 3 somewhere. Absolutely love them. Saw them last year at the forum. Their live tone is so good. I couldn't have been any more impressed with their live performance as a whole. Good stuff.

Yeah, that is one of my favorites by the band.

yeppers, but as mentioned more of a fan of the first album, then a handfull of tunes on the later stuff. Solid group for sure!


Bit goofy politically, but that's how it often goes.

I love how he seems to clunk notes even the easiest of parts, not a good guitarist at all. Got to hang out with them years ago when the bassist's brother was playing with H is Orange & that dude just had ZERO feel for the guitar, it was awkward watching him just holding the thing, he was just...& still just...is bad.
More props to you steve for covering their stuff, because the songs are good, I was a huge fan around the first album, but...he, Daren that is, is just weird & really not a good guitarist at all.

I used to really be into them, but as I have gotten older my tastes have changed and the heavier stuff, metal, whatever, doesn't really do it for me now. I have not listened to them or anything that aggressive or heavy in years. I used to love them though.

People have been telling me that Something Involving A Monkey sounds like them. I don't hear it too much, but you can feel free to judge. Who knows what we will sound like if and when we find a new drummer.

Well, I am not questioning Daron's playing skills, but more about liking the live tone he has. Very chunky Plexi with a bit more attitude. I assume he has a guitar tech switching for him between clean and dirty amps. I read somewhere his last set up with Divided by 13 for cleans and a cranked 50 watt Plexi for dirt. Sounds near what I hear, but I may be wrong.

Yeah, their recordings had one message.....SCREW the Government and very anti-anything dealing with policy. No love songs here. They could damn sure form a mosh pit though. The drummer's awesome as well. Great at changing time signatures.

Mega fan... And I've known a lot of peeps to say Serj's voice is irritating, I will say I find it more fascinating than irritating. You want irritating? Listen to anything with cookie monster lyrics and that's fuckin' irritating. I think the band was/is awesome and really REALLY hope they pull it together for another release in the future. I loved all their CDs - all of 'em.

Spiders, Mr. Jack, Aerials, Holy Mountain, the list just keeps going and going...
