Anyway I do like going there but I do not like 7 strings, 8 strings or more. To each their own but not my thing.

There are some knowledgeable peeps over there. I like the recording section and gear section, I am pretty sure you (Diezel duder, won't say the other name) have helped me out a few times and I've been curious about your pups.

There's alot of sub forums I never look at but a few that I like.

I honestly think its been a little more lenient now than it was a few years ago but it's still a bit uptight.

One thing I can attest to is the owner gives no fucks, let's the mods have free reign and doesn't question them ever.

Its hard not to get banned over there...I was banned a while back as well for something silly. Now I just browse every once in a while, I never bother to post anything unless I'm selling something. You never know who might get there panties in a bunch over there.

actually, i think that owner guy was the original owner of sevenstring.org but sold it a few years ago. then he founded metalguitarist.com, and a lot of the original sevenstring.org folks ended up there.

That's correct, Chris formerly owned SS.O and now owns MG.org. It's great watching some of the SS.O mods come over to MG.org and defend themselves against the shit they pull.

I post on SS.O under this same name, but not very often. I've found I'm a bit too old (at 32) for most of the kids on SS.O.....I can't remember all those genres and I don't keep up with the latest djent players.

I feel exactly the same. I thought Meshugga was cool when they first came out but never really got into them and no disrespect but I honestly cannot stand "Djent" music.

I do like it when it gets heavy and/or technical but the rest of it just kills any of the good stuff.

I did however check out a new Periphery song thankss to a ss.org member and I must say I was pretty impressed. The song I heard was a much more straight forward approach and so much less "Djenty" so I really liked it. Not sure about the rest of that album but I hope they stick with that approach.

For the ownership, the same guy that owns MLP owns SSO.....I know there are a bunch of rules, but Alex (the owner) would really like to have apps for both, and they're pretty strict about what they'll let pass through the App Store regarding content, so that might be part of it.

For the OP's deal, it's in the rules, man. They want you to hit the 'report' button to lock your thread instead of cleaning it out and leaving it blank. I know it's different than other forums as far as that goes, but it IS in the rules, right there for people to read, and says right under it that if you're going to do what you did, which is remove all the content from your FS post, they're going to either warn or ban you...it wasn't a random 'let's ban this guy for whatever today' type of thing.

For the age thing, most of the guys I talk to or do business with are 35-40....there ARE a lot of kids over there, but a lot of adults too. It's a HUGE forum, and there's always something going on. I dig the way it's set up, I've gotten a lot of guitars from over there, read interesting discussions daily, and in over 2 years I've never been banned. I think the rules for a forum that size are reasonable...there are literally over a thousand people online there at any given time from all over the world, and I think a mod's job is completely thankless in the first place, so they get tired of seeing the exact same shit every day...I know I would.

It takes a lot for a forum to intrigue me enough to want to pay them for upkeep, but I do it over there...figure it's the least I could do for all the entertainment.

I am sure the same people would blast if I made a general Yngwie comment that I should use the search function....so feeling salty, I waited nearly 4 years and bumped it again, lol. I got a week off and the mod called me a name in a pm

The only real reason I am on there anymore is for the Luthier/Dealer section (and that I play 7-string exclusively for a few years now). If it weren't for that, I would not have come across Ormsby Guitars. Lots of biulders post there and while most are not worth the time or money, some are pretty talented (Ormsby, ViK (although he's a fuck-face), XEN, Oakland Axe Factory, etc.).

However when it comes to gear or advice on gear, this is the place I like to be. Plus, if I get pissed or something, I can vent on here and the mod(s) are not going to unsheath the ban-hammer for someone having their special feelings hurt.

I have only been banned once from SSO, but I can't remember what for as it was a couple years ago I think.
