Anybody play for FUN anymore?

After reading alot of bashing on here.....I ask is everyone so damn critical?
I mean.....dont get me wrong here.....but it seems as if alot of whats criticized is like a pissing contest. Who really cares?
For me music is just a way to let off steam and have fun playing.
I never bash others here and been seeing alot of it lately.
Maybe I am too mellow or dont take it as seriously. dont matter if you play the shredding stuff or hell even some old Beach Boys tunes. If it makes the PLAYER smile and have a good time then thats what its about. Some asshole will always be there to say it was out of tune or flat or not in key.
But just play to have fun.
Thats my approach on playing. Not sure how many others out here think like me but I know from reading posts alot of guys are on high horses and always finding a way to criticize or make judgement.
And they are the guys that dont put out clips or videos....Go figure.


Oh well....what the hell do I know.

Just ranting after reading all the negative shit. Thats all.

make music....make it fun and enjoyable.

After nearly 40 years of playing live, the only reason I still do it is for the sheer pleasure of playing. I love to see the gals shaking their butts and I love the applause and I even enjoy the shouts of "Free Bird!"

If it wasn't fun I'd be in the audience having a cocktail...

I stay out of most of the arguments although I admit to being a frustrated guitar player. I remember sitting on the edge of my bed in 1982 playing most of Triumph's "blinding light show/moonchild" song note for note, playing the entire Caress of Steel album note for note, and now I seem to struggle finding 30 minutes in the day to play chromatic exercises to burn off nervous tension

Now I'm shopping for Suhr guitars...talk about frustrating. It's hard picking out a $2500 guitar and worrying about making the right choice. I just want a guitar with higher quality so my picking exercises sound better!

I blow at guitar, I barely play anymore. But I've been writing some stuff with Code and it's brought the fun back into it. Really good vibes working with another friendlier guitarist. I'm used to people telling me to my face that 'this riff sucks' or 'you're sloppy as shit'. But now I don't give a shit and I just try to have fun.

I used to practice when I was a teen thru early 20's....it was frustrating and rewarding.
Now music is just a hobby for me. Same as golf or whatever.
But I really really enjoy playing and seeing shows and talking music/gear. I dont take too much in life serious. Work...yes. Thats about it. The rest.....life is too short.

If I die tommorrow and dont know how to do blazing speed arpeggio runs......then I am ok.

Every once and a while I like putting something up on HCAF and watch almost everybody tell you how much your music and playing sucks. These people of course never put anything up themselves but love tearing into anything they can...a lot of negativity there. Its a total joke there now.

What it comes down to is that certain people think they need "this guitar" or "that amp" to play well, when in actuality if you all just quit spending ridiculous amounts of money on fancy gear, and instead buy my new instructional video, "jerkin the gerkin all night long without getting carpal tunnel syndrome" then you'd all be more confident in your skills and wouldn't feel the need to harp on each other all the time!

Exactly! I hardly new the songs but didn't give a fuck. Its all about having a good time and not worrying about some idiot with his arms crossed in the crowd thinking he's better than you. The jokes on him because you're the one up on stage having a blast!
