Anybody play for FUN anymore?

I'm not in a band and I only play for fun!! It's more therapy for me, I just love to play, I know I'll never make a bunch of money doing it and I dont care!!!! As long as I sound good to me (I never do because I am my harshest critic) Its all good!!

I play for fun for two reasons:

1) IT'S FUN!
2) I play like crap, soooo, what other reason would I have to play.

Don't you just hate it when someone tells you how something that is subjective must be done, i.e, "You have to change this, that and the other thing to have "good" tone." Phsst, as if there is such a thing as "the" good tone.

What makes me laugh is that the GOD TONE to someone may be SRV. I like SRV...but god tone? Not even close.
My GOD TONE is probably something like Lynchs tone from Back for the Attack.



But tone is subjective and as far as PERFECT TONE ........well thats up to the player.

Exactly! I dig Andy Timmons' tone, Billy Gibbons, Steffen Schackinger and many others. They're all different and they're all great to my ears.

On the other hand, I just can't get into the tone from Malmsteen, Gilbert and Haynes. I dig their playing but the tone is not my cup-o-tea.

It's all just a matter of taste. "THE" tone is not etched in stone anywhere... it's in the "ear" of the beholder.

Funny thing.....lately....Jimmy Page has been ruling my TOP TONE list.
I guess it comes full circle. Get burned out on the metal after a while.
Need to tame it back a bit. But not for long!
