I only use music as an excuse to buy pieces of gear that others already have so i can be part of a virtual fanboy club and we stroke eachother over our similiar tastes in gear.

If you don't agree I'll go clip for clip with you nigga.

not to mention that the amount of gear we own is directly proportional to the size of our wangs. In which case, I'm hung like a flea. A well hung flea, but a flea nonetheless.

I thought that was only with cars............

nope....the same holds true for any manly pursuit or hobby....guitar gear, cars, power tools, etc, etc

What about the guys that have a ton of shitty gear? Seems like it would translate into being John holmes with E.D. :dunno:

YES!
I can see you're a quick study. You have a handle on it!

I've been undergoing a size reduction the last couple months. I thought it would be painful, but I'm quite enjoying it.

Done the gear reduction over the past 5 years......like you mentioned....thought it would be painful but hey.....
ITS A FIRE SALE!! ALL MUST GO!!

it's a surprisingly easy transition is it not?

Very easy....
Just have to keep one of everything thats good and call it GOOD TO GO!

Me too. At first I took a little off the top but I've lost most of the rest of it within the past few months. Now I'm but a wee little boy :D

No doubt about it in fact, part/most of the reason for the reduction was because I simply had so much gear crammed into my little music room that it was a nuisance to even fire up an amp. Now, I still haven't picked the guitar back up yet, but right now it's a matter of time and priorities, although I think I need to at least start putting in an hour on the weekends. Now playing again, that's going to be painful...

Yeah, hopefully quickly. I had about 7 years off through the 90's, and almost decided it was too much work to learn again when I started back up. This should be much easier.

I play for fun for two reasons:

1) IT'S FUN!
2) I play like crap, soooo, what other reason would I have to play.

Don't you just hate it when someone tells you how something that is subjective must be done, i.e, "You have to change this, that and the other thing to have "good" tone." Phsst, as if there is such a thing as "the" good tone.

What makes me laugh is that the GOD TONE to someone may be SRV. I like SRV...but god tone? Not even close.
My GOD TONE is probably something like Lynchs tone from Back for the Attack.

But tone is subjective and as far as PERFECT TONE ........well thats up to the player.

no doubt....sometimes it works funny

I could be playing up to par for a few days then just have a day that feels I've never picked up a guitar before..
then other times I could not touch it for a few days or a week straight and come back to it like I didn't leave..never know what the hell's gonna happen

Stated several times that what I do can't even be called music (or guitar playing probably) but I f'kin love it.... fun is all I do
