Anyone ever just boost using an EQ pedal?

Boss GE7 as well. Especially mid boost in front of a JCM800, makes it sound closer to a plexi.

I had a handful of those that lasted for years before they finally gave out on me. That little 6 footer is the only one I have left now.
I bought mine around 2007 or so when I worked at GC. I've noticed the longer run ones are finally starting to give out around the ends and get crackly/poppy when moved. I guess it's time to get a bunch of BestTronics wire and Neutrik jacks and break out the soldering iron.

I use an MXR M-108 10 band eq to boost when I'm using my flying v.

That’s around the time I got all of mine, they were reasonably priced and always available. I recall being told that under warranty, you could just come into any GC & swap them out.

By the time mine started crapping out, those were long gone & Amazon made it much easier to just get a Planet Waves cable sent to the house the next day.

I used a GE-7 as my only boost from the late 90s until the late 2000s, into a Hughes and Kettner Access preamp. I'd pull down the 100Hz slightly on the GE-7, then 400Hz at +5, 800Hz at +3 (and 1.6k at maybe +1), and then push Level to +8 or so.

I’ve used the GE7 as a boost a bunch back when I was gigging all the time.

I’ve tried the MXR before but I prefer that one in the loop for tome shaping.

It's interesting to see how many people are doing this, as the few times I tried using an old graphic EQ for a boost, it was very noisy compared to an OD as boost. Conceptually, it's fine, I just never had any luck. Now that I think about it, I probably haven't tried it since the 80's so newer EQ's are probably better in that regard.

I played around with a parametric EQ with more luck, but never bought/owned one so it was just a one off at someone's practice space.

I use 2 source audio eq2's for clean vol lead boosts in my rack, all under midi cc control, but not for any tone shaping.but I have the option if I need it.

I been boosting my Larry with boss advanced eq 200 . From 2000s . No overdrive
