A few months ago it was Rev.2 mania - Hitler videos - thread after thread of hype and desire...

Seems to have mellowed out a bit. Was it the flavour of the month, or??

Just getting a sense as to what the playing public is thinking nowadays. Ya, I got a dead mint Rev.2 - just for the record.

I would say like most things it is a flavor of the month. I am sure the classifieds will be full of them shortly after all the Wizard hype wears off. It appears to work in cycles of 3 so who knows what the next amp of choice will be.

Mesa Rev 2 ---------> Wizard --------> ?????????? (EVH with EL-34's perhaps)?????? Stay tuned!

I'm still waiting for the Bugera craze to come back around so I can list my fleet.

I still regret not buying one when MF had them for $250

But my Rev. 2 craze is over since I found one :) awesome amps, don't sell it.

We'll see. I've got a specific tone in my head I am working with tubes and the like to achieve. If it doesn't get there, we'll see

Same. I have slowly been getting there. The next step for me is to buy the Euro tubes probe and some KT88's. That is the only place I will find the tone I want with that amp. I have it sounding REALLY good right now but it is missing something and the KT88 should fix that.

Yep, decided to keep my Rev 2 and sell the Twin Jet, specifically because there will almost certainly be a higher demand for the former than the latter.

I understand all of this.

However, as fine a specimen as my Rev2 is, if it doesn't get me where I want it to go - and remember, all things are very personal in the tonal department - than it's a no go amp for me. I love it for what it does, which is Rev2 thickness and brutality like none other, but I've got this "grind in my mind" I am seeking, and I want to get it there.

Stay tuned - I'm good at this business of glass and biasing and cabs and such

Secondly, for the record, the PurpleMod TJ with strategically placed 5751s is a fucking dream of an amp - unlike anything in my current stable so it's a 100% keeper cuz it's gone where I want it to go. I'm pairing the Rev.2 up with it through a Lehle SGS and know what side of the business its needed for now. But the TJ?? Hands down my fave brootz amp at this current moment.

Alright man well I guess you can just send me the Rev. 2. I will pay the shipping :aww:

I understand. While I like the Twin Jet's tone and playability, it just sounds a bit more generic than the Rev 2, which has a really unique, distinctive sound.

True dat.

I have wanted one for a while. Watched a bunch come and go without really trying for one.

You should buy his, it is really an amazing amp.

I miss my Pitbull 100CL for sure BUT the Rev 2 is a different beast altogether and I do not regret buying it by any means.

I am sure nothing can compare to the DAR but man this Bogner is sick. That sag is just perfect for the kind of metal I play.

Sag is why I haven't bought one. I like my amps tight. I was advised to get a twin jet,but then those I trust who know what I like and have had them said I wouldn't like the feel. And I can say all three of these guys know me pretty well. They have always predicted correct...in fact at least half of what I own was advised to me by these guys.

Hitler vid gets gas flowing for Ubers, I was nominated for an Emmy with that gem.

All I know about DAR is that they aren't reliable - at least that seems to be the common theme amongst buyers and re-sellers. I could be wrong.

As for sag and the like - I'd have to say let's all figure out what sag is... If the sag we're talking about is "power section saturation", well, good luck getting there as you'll have to move that master past noon and the channel volume well into afternoon territory. I've been there - it's a glorious thing; it just comes to life and vibrates my hair and shakes the ground - fucking incredible. And that's both the Rev.2 and the TJ.

If we're talking about "sag" being "loose", that's slightly different. Mega different. I find my XTC to be a looser amp; even the Hagen - considering its lineage - is a looser amp. They've got overtones and constantly seem to breathe notes and tones and nuances and the like. They're just, looser. Not surgical.

My TJ gets "power section" sag when it's at deafening levels, but sounds amazing pre-death levels too. The Rev.2 sounds incredible with power section sag. But loose sag?? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, no. The TJ is critically sharp and cutting and tight. Explosive. Percussive. Tighter than a toads ass. The Rev.2?? Almost as tight. Stops dead when your hand stops feeding it. That's tight. But they can both offer sag.

Make sense??

Then there's "dry".... But I'll stop here. I'm not into dry sounding amps. But dry isn't the opposite of squishy, which some people may think. And squishy isn't the same as chewy.

I have to leave.

That's what makes it so good. Is so perfect. I might have to record something and post so you can hear what I mean. See Ventura's post. I wouldn't really call it a loose amp. Maybe not the tightest amp of all time but It's just amazing.

I don't play "djent" at all but man when you just hit those open strings it's like the best sound in the world.
