I have wanted one for a while. Watched a bunch come and go without really trying for one.

You should buy his, it is really an amazing amp.

I miss my Pitbull 100CL for sure BUT the Rev 2 is a different beast altogether and I do not regret buying it by any means.

I am sure nothing can compare to the DAR but man this Bogner is sick. That sag is just perfect for the kind of metal I play.

Sag is why I haven't bought one. I like my amps tight. I was advised to get a twin jet,but then those I trust who know what I like and have had them said I wouldn't like the feel. And I can say all three of these guys know me pretty well. They have always predicted correct...in fact at least half of what I own was advised to me by these guys.
All I know about DAR is that they aren't reliable - at least that seems to be the common theme amongst buyers and re-sellers. I could be wrong.

As for sag and the like - I'd have to say let's all figure out what sag is... If the sag we're talking about is "power section saturation", well, good luck getting there as you'll have to move that master past noon and the channel volume well into afternoon territory. I've been there - it's a glorious thing; it just comes to life and vibrates my hair and shakes the ground - fucking incredible. And that's both the Rev.2 and the TJ.

If we're talking about "sag" being "loose", that's slightly different. Mega different. I find my XTC to be a looser amp; even the Hagen - considering its lineage - is a looser amp. They've got overtones and constantly seem to breathe notes and tones and nuances and the like. They're just, looser. Not surgical.

My TJ gets "power section" sag when it's at deafening levels, but sounds amazing pre-death levels too. The Rev.2 sounds incredible with power section sag. But loose sag?? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, no. The TJ is critically sharp and cutting and tight. Explosive. Percussive. Tighter than a toads ass. The Rev.2?? Almost as tight. Stops dead when your hand stops feeding it. That's tight. But they can both offer sag.

Make sense??

Then there's "dry".... But I'll stop here. I'm not into dry sounding amps. But dry isn't the opposite of squishy, which some people may think. And squishy isn't the same as chewy.

I have to leave.
I'm looking for an amp that is gooey, but can also get slightly stinky with the master past noon. Saggy is good too...like really saggy... like granny boob saggy. Any recommendations?

There is no doubt you would like a rev 2 or TJ with a clean boost. I guarantee it.

Been a busy lad enjoying life outside... Haven't been tone-testing too much as of late - that's rainy day stuff

Still working on the Rev.2 but she's finding her legs. I'm starting to like where this is going. Will give full debrief as to glass, bias, etc. under the tube rolling thread in the Bogner subforum.

She's getting some serious teeth - er, sharper teeth than previously had

Stay tuned. In all ways applicable

Research it here or on the net.

The Original Uberschall is called the Rev.2 or Rev.Green - it has a green printed circuit board; it has symbols instead of numbers for a S/N, has a different carrying handle than other newer iterations, and has 2 large blue top-mounted ARS capacitors on the upper deck of the chassis along with the trannies, tubes and choke. It's the "tone" of these amps that has people in a frenzy or tizzy (depending what side of the fence your money is) and the fact they're hard to come by. Power lamp on the amp is green as well - but this isn't the only telling feature, as the lamp can be exchanged/replaced with identical jewel lamps purchased from "Antique Electronic Supply". So be wary!!

There's a KILLER thread under the Bogner subforum written by our in house Bogner expert all about the iterations and tones and playability of each of the amps out there in the Uber lineage. Give it a read.

Peace
Mo

The original is not the same as the rev 2 (green). The rev 2 changed the taper of the gain and bass pots - less gain and less bass, although you can pretty much dial them in to sound identical, up to a point. It wasn't until the rev blue that Bogner really changed the voicing and character of the amp.

I've had all versions of the Uber up through the TJ, and the original version remains my favorite - it's just massive sounding.

Would love to try one. Not knocking it or trying to justify my Rev 2 but I couldn't imagine needing any more bass or gain than I already have.

I keep my gain around 1:00 but I do use an OD pedal. Bass is around 10:00 - 11:00.

I'm definitely curious to hear the difference though.

Maybe I'm simplifying things, but if the only difference from an original to Rev 2 is the taper of a couple pots, I don't consider that a true difference. Is that the only difference, or is there more than that?

That's it afaik, and a leather handle

Again I've never played the Original but I've read a lot. I always took the gain taper as not adding more gain but a much more controllable pot.

Could be wrong.

That was my assumption as well. That the difference wasn't more or less bass/gain per se, just that you had a more usable range in the sweep on the knobs.
