I'm considering getting my Mesa Single Rect-O-Verb modded by the guys over at Voodoo mods. I actually shopped around a little bit for a good place to get it done and after deciding against FJA ($800 for all the mods  ) I found that Voodoo had a good price.

Problem is, I can't find ANY clips of a Voodoo modded Mesa. Anyone here have experience?

not sure how hard you looked, but theres two clips of a voodoo modded recto on youtube. Also traces facebook would be a good place to reach out also to find out who might have clips to share. I have a voodoo modded platinum HG Jose 59RI and that amps smokes. Trace is cool as hell to work with also.

Trace is a great guy and he's great to work with. I've had 3 amps modded by him and one of his production amps and some of his cabs. My DSL with their deluxe mod is my favorite amp ever. I've bought and sold 25+ amps since getting it and is now the only amp I own.

Drewiv on here used to have a bunch I think. maybe he will chime in here.

I have his V-reck and V-plex amps and his work is stellar. Also have a modded Randall MTS module that he did a sear mod to which is fantastic and his work is CLEAN. A lot of hacks out there modding s**t and Trace is not one of them. If you are in NY bring your amp to him and sit down with the man and he will tweak it to get the sound you hear in your head.

Yup, I love Trace's work and I've been through quite a few. I had a DSL with the Metal Mod & one with the Rock Mod, a 1959RI with a HG-Jose Platinum Mod and a Platinum CP-100 (which actually isn't a mod). I'm currently down to the ODS-60 and V-Rock DL. There isn't anyone better to work with than Trace and he provides great tone; he has a good ear, IMO.

Unfortunately, I have no experience with Voodoo Modded Mesas.

EDIT: How could I forget, I also had the Dr. Feelgood mod on a JCM800! Damn, that thing was really cool.

No experience with the Recto's, however I used to have a JCM 800 with a WitchDoctor mod that Trace did, at Voodoo.

FANTASTIC guy to work with, and is not happy until his customer is happy.

Highly recommend Voodoo, if their particular mods interest you.

I can only find one. It's the one with the guy who has the "platinum" mod...care to share?

Thanks for the input guys. I have no doubt that the guys are top notch, I just wish I could HEAR one!

Here's an old clip from an old forumite Dean. He had a modded Rectifier that sounded pretty righteous I thought.

I've owned about 4 amps now that Voodoo amps either built from the ground-up or modded. They have all been quite awesome sounding, and the guys are fantastic to do business with. I currently use an Egnater Rebel 20 modded w/ the Jose HG circuit. It's a fantastic little amp.

I have a modded JMP and VH100R.....both with HG-Jose mods. Both amps are stellar, especially the Marshall which has a bunch of other added features as well. What makes it even better is that as others have already mentioned, Trace is a stellar guy to deal with. Always talkative and never with an attitude (other than a positive one) or in a hurry to get you off the phone. I think that is very special considering the high power clients he has. He always made me feel as important as one of them! (Even though I'm a hack!  )

I have no experience with his work of Mesa products but I wouldn't hesitate. Give him a call and see where it goes from there.

I emailed them last night and haven't heard back yet so I'll wait until Friday and make a call.

Calling them is the fastest way to get ahold of them. They have a HUUUUUUGE backlog of email usually.

Had a Voodoo modded Jose 1959 RI, was a great amp. Had a Voodoo modded Laney AOR, not so much. Probably just the difference between the Marshall and Laney..but when you contact them they answer you right away.

I just got back my modded Dual Rectifier Multi-Watt, with fresh tubes, power / output transformer and choke. It's one of the biggest / baddest sounding Rectifiers I've ever played. I'll put some clips up soon. I have 4/5 of my amps modded by Trace, and does amazing work.

Here's a quick clip I did of me jamming on it. So excuse the mistakes / flubs, etc. :)

This amp is the newest model (multi-watt) version of the Mesa Dual Rectifier. The clean channel Trace modded to be more of a hybrid of a Fender Clean / Vox AC30 tone. It can definitely get twangy. The Power section was on spongy mode. The clean channel and Modern (Ch3) settings were using the diode rectifier. The Raw / Vintage modes were using the tube rectifier.

The guitar was my Suhr w/ SSH+ / SSV.

The cabinet was my StoneAge 4x12 w/ V30s.

I recorded it about 15" from the speaker with my Zoom Q3, pointed right at the speaker in the middle. The master volume was at like 9 oclock, so it wasn't very loud really, compared to how loud it can get. There's absolutely no pedals at all involved. It was purely guitar -> cable -> amp -> cab.

You came through quick!

It sounds very good. I liked the combination of saturation and tightness going on. Would you say that the mod "opened up" and/or brightened your tone up a lot? That's really my biggest gripe with the Mesa.

It's much more open, tighter, more defined, and more balanced. Listen to the clips, and you'll see that even at a lower volume, it sounds big bold, and massive. But what's awesome with it...is the amp has become more versatile with the EQ being more usable IMHO, more dynamic, your volume knob rolling off works amazingly well, and the clean channel is friggin so usable now. :)

You're the man! I appreciate your input and if you ever decide to post more clips, it won't bother me ;)
