Then it was largely made up of veterans the government trained to be killers and then ignored and dumped back into society with little or no effort to re-insert them in a dignified and self sustainable way. Now it's largely entitled, overindulged children of fucking hippies who failed to teach their kids that actions had consequences and so does lack of action.

We used to have insane asylums but it got too expensive so they just let them out into the streets.
