I like A7X, that's what the cool kids call them on the web.
The singer isn't the best thing about the band.
The original drummer is a great rock drummer. Very solid and yet a lot of unique flare to his drumming.
It's unfortunate that he died about 2 yrs ago.
Some of their tunes I'm not a fan of, but some tunes really rock.
Gates is an excellent guitar player, though he lacks an original style per se. He can play and play well, but it sounds as if he's spent more time on technique and not enough honing a unique vibe.
The new album is more rudimentary for A7X, but I think that has a LOT to do with the loss of their drummer who brought great dynamics to the band.
As for how they look, well, some of you are just getting too old and sounding like our parents did when we grew our hair long, some with highlights and perms, eyeliner, and some even make up.
That was the 80's. A7X is a modern metal band and that blacked out look is part of the modern scene in certain metal genre's.
Yeah, they may laugh at themselves now because they're older.
Many of us from the 80's look at old picts and wonder what the hell we were thinking with those whacky styles we had.
