Awesome IR’s: Otto cabs

I know people are always looking for killer IR’s, and I’ve been meaning to try this guys stuff. Well, I’m a huge fan to say the least. These have the low end I want and sits where I want it to. I’m about 100 percent certain there is some EQ in there, as the low mids are much clearer than I would expect from just micing up the same cabinet, but whatever it is, it rules hard. There’s virtually no eq on these, just a high and low pass. Just thought people would be interested. I’ve only bought his 2001 recto OS cab, but it definitely rules hard. Probably the best sounding and easiest to mix IR’s I’ve heard besides EAS studios/Ed’s stuff.

Pretty fantastic sounding to me. That Uber is crushing with these I thought especially. Enjoy!
 
Interesting, I hear what you mean, the low mids and bass freqs seem pretty tailored already but sounds really good in these examples.

The Bogren Amp Knob sounds a lot better than than with the built in IR. Maybe it’s just me but all his guitar amp sims built in cab sections have too much boomy low end and low mids with not quite enough cut.

However I have been fooling with using his MLC Subzero plugin solely as an IR loader because the IRDX (or whatever) processing does add more natural feeling and sounding dynamic content. The free trial is about to expire and I might buy it just to use as an IR loader. That seems dumb because I don’t really like the amp sim itself but I like the IRDX effect so much when running amps through my loadbox. I wish he’d just release an IR loader plugin with that effect for like $15 or something.

I totally agree about bogrens IR’s. They aren’t my thing in the least. Soft, pillowy, no cut to me

Also, I did use a dirty tree style boost on these clips, except for the rev C and the gojira 5153( no boost there at all) so that cuts the low mids even more, but I think in a mix these would be perfect and have tons of clarity.

While I think Jens is great and does better than I ever could, sometimes his guitar tones are pretty weak. Very flat sounding? Revocation netherheaven is such a good album and I think the mix doesn’t sound as aggressive as it could.
