His biggest seller would be a single rack unit FX only. Not sure why he is hesitant to build it. They would sell 4X more of these than an Axe FX.

+1 - I hate pedalboard effects rigs!!

I guess you haven't looked at The Gear Page Classifieds? There were NO Fractals on there yesterday, today is a different story.

I've seen several adverts on FB this last 24 hours for used AxeFX II also. Notably more so than I usually see & with no trade requests for Kempers etc.

I'd also be interested in a Lite version of the AxeFX, with limited amps, FX, deep editing & blocks. I'd probably buy one just as a silent practice module.

If you simply want a silent practice option, the old Axe FX Standard/Ultra still sounds phenomenal and can be had around 800-900. The effects are great too, so if anyone wants an effects unit, there ya go.

I'm glad I just sold my AX8 for $1300. I predict a Fractal dumpster fire sell off. Meanwhile the guy with the kick ass amp 10 years ago, still has that same kick ass amp and it's not about to be out-processed.

So dumb  There has never been a Fractal “dumpster fire sell off”, & it won’t start now.

The AxeFx2 released Sept 2011 just recently got updated to Quantum firmware 9.04. The same exact firmware for the flagship XL+ Model. They have held value better than 90% of tube amps.

These units will sound as great as they do now, 10 years from now. 20 years from now. The ultra can still sound amazing & it is 11 years old.

Great tone now doesn’t suddenly sound bad next year.......The Axe3 is not coming out because of complaints about tone at all. It just needed some modern updating to the onboard user interface & some updated features.

  I guess you haven't looked at The Gear Page Classifieds? There were NO Fractals on there yesterday, today is a different story.

And I don't disagree with anything you're saying, I think the Axe-2 is pretty cool. I'm making light of "some" of the Fractal crowds gotta have the latest greatest attitude. I've seen soo many stupid comments like, "oh, i wonder what it will sound like". "Oh man, it's going to sound BETTER than tubes amps" Really? Did these nitwits ever play a real amp in their lives?

There is literally 3 for sale at TGP  there has been a steady 1-2 a week for the pst few months over there as well, hardly a sell off or rats abandoning ship

There's a bounty on Cliff's head now.

His loyal followers threatened to sue him when he released the II. They claimed he withheld the II's announcement and let people buy the Ultra. I think CLiff really is a genius, but half his clientele has lost their minds. Maybe overtweak syndrome?

I would certainly buy one!

O really? How about telling that to the guys that spent $2500 on Johnson Millenniums and Line 6 Vettas lol. A new AX8 hasn't been announced so Im not sure about the relevancy of selling yours off  Its not like all of a sudden the II's are obsolete, they still sound as amazing as they did yesterday and will continue to do so.

Oh my god, I can't even tell you about my hatred of the Johnson Millenium and LINE 6 Flextone II amps. The Johnson started cutting out at a gig and going thru a bunch of presets randomely in the middle of a guitar solo. I went thru two LINE 6 Flextone II amps in a few months. Huge volume drops in the middle of playing. Total nightmares.

Myself and the other guitarist in my band toured the country with Flextone 2 heads and never had a single issue. This was in 02-03ish. At the time , they were a dream come true!

That was around the time I got mine! I'm glad you had a great experience with it. Mine were the combos so maybe that was the issue? I can't remember the name but almost bought that LINE 6 "toaster" head (HD147?). LOL!

for sure they will sound great! If something sounds great now why would it sound bad tomorrow? BUT it's all the same undeniable that the valve/tube technology is at its peak (note: it's almost 100+ yrs old technology) and that the digital world is only at its beginning and its innovation trend is of growing at exponential rhythm...

so the fact that tube amplifiers will NOT be obsolete is a matter of fact. Why? it could be replaced by ANOTHER technology (for example digital), but for sure NOT by advancement in the SAME technology (in this case thermoionic tubes).

Axe FX hold value remarkably well for a digital guitar product. Honestly, I’m some cases better than great tube amps who easily go for 50% of new prices. That’ll be different of course 20 years down the road, but for the immediate future Axe FX is a decent investment that won’t be a huge loss if/when someone decides to move on. Heck, I’ve owned three so far...

Honestly, I think tube amps will probably devalue even more in the future. Many of the (limited) younger people who actually play guitar want to sit and play through their iPad in their bedroom. They like the convenience of space, volume, flexibility, and portability. I see fewer and fewer big tube rigs in the bedroom, leaving the big tube rigs only to the professional studios.... which is also decreasing due to the affordable home DAW.

There was an interesting section in the John Suhr Tone Talk episode where Dave discussed Hendrix's studio recording & how he had his amp all loud & gnarly & offensive. The recorded guitar track being much less offensive & 2D but facilitated capturing the character of his unique playing.
Also the takes in the studio on old records that had faults and still made it onto tracks, deliberately. We hear less of that kind of honesty & organic in music these days & is arguably why a lot of music isn't as 'good' as it used to be.
The move towards digital, quantised perfection in the studio has made a lot of new music sound pretty sterile I think. So there's an argument to say that as great a studio companion modelers are, they're probably less conducive with artistic self expression.
Also why classical & orchestral music & opera continues to have a great integrity to it. People expressing themselves musically in the most direct medium possible.

$2499...not bad! Less than I would have expected. Wish I had some money. I'd grab one.

That said, I'm very content with my Helix and Headrush these days. The AX8 wasn't the best move for me in hindsight. I should have just stuck with the A2. I actually preferred using my GCP over the Fractal floorboard too.

Yeah but you add the cost foot controller which given the price of the ones in the past will most likely be bare minimum a $1000... you'll have about $3500 in the rig.
