You are speaking my language!! I am really having fun replicating tones for the coverband!! The only thing I haven't gotten into is the pitch shifting!! Where do you place the it in the signal chain? maybe I'll screw around with it this weekend but it will help to get some help from you before I start screwing around!!
The pitch shifter is at the front of the chain first block. Used the "advanced whammy" mode with pitch tracking on to downtune the guitar. I believe it's in full step increments i.e. -1,-2,-3 etc. You'll be impressed!
Advanced Whammy? I don't think I've seen that mode on an Axe-Fx Standard pitch shifter

. If you mean whammy mode, that one does not have step increments, but % of an octave or two.
When I want to downtune, I don't use the whammy mode, but the intelligent pitch shifer, and then I set the step increments I need. I think it sounds pretty good for low power chords, but when I play notes high in the fretboard, I can hear "wierd" things, artifacts, chorused ghost notes... Have you succeeded in using pitch-shifted with leads (100% wet, no harmony)?
