That is even apparent on their live albums, Brad is just a tad louder. Jeff's solo albums are much better than the tremolo wankery that are Brad's solo albums. There's room on my ipod for both...

Strangely enough, Rich has never been the "lead guitarist" for BC, in fact, I saw them live with all the 3 guys you mention and they all played more leads than Rich.

Yep, this was going to be my next one. Tremonti can rip and he writes excellent songs, but Myles is soulful and a very complete and accomplished guitarist. And he has better tone. :yes:

Also agree with Dan on Queensryche.

maybe for one aspect of the guitar ( lead playing)..

but for rhythm guitar and songwriting these guys aren't in the same league...

alter bridge. tremonti is incredible, and one of the reasons i started playing. but fast just doesn't cut it for me. it's not how fast you talk, it's what you say! every time i hear a solo on their stuff that i really dig i find out myles did it haha

nirvana. agreed!

pearl jam. mcready played the same stupid fast part in every solo. i think he used it 3 times in the "alive" solo. wtf, not even that hard.
 
+1 on Myles...Check out his guitar work on the Mayfiled Four recordings. Killer diller!!
 
The three that immediately came to mind have all been mentioned...Aerosmith, Def Lep, and Whitesnake (sorry Doug).

And to The Whale...Rich Robinson > Audley Freed???!!!! You're insane :poke:

Always preferred James Iha's approach to Billy Corgan's.
Billy Corgan's abrasive personality probably colours my perception somewhat.
Neither are that technically amazing though.
