You wouldn't possibly know who is in control of what without at least a rudimentary understanding of the establishment, how it's laws are created and passed, and how representatives are elected and appointed. So whatever it is you think you know, burn it and start all over with a real framework of basic knowledge so you can (if capable) one day contribute something that actually makes sense and means something. I was a member of the gear page for a couple years its pathetic and the mods are the real tough guys who will suspend you for an opinion. i used to get it at least each 3 months and then i realized i better stay shut.

One thing that bothers me is the constant worship the Dumble amp when most have never even seen one and how they manage to somehow
find a way to justify the amp.

The other thing that bothers me is that when you hear the clips they post you can't understand how in hell they are so highly regarded between themselves when they cannot play a note..

I'm sorry to hear the OP got banned over on The Gear Page for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, the religious & political topics are a big no no over there. It's basically like pouring gasoline into the fire and forum members get involved in arguments/flaming other posters which forces the admins or mods to ban all people involved and lock the threads.

I can agree with this viewpoint. That's the way those people on that forum are over there. Completely different kind of vibe on this forum which is more of my vibe. I hang there, learn/share information, and interact, but a lot of people over there are looking for peer gratification for purchasing gear/owning boutique guitar gear/playing a certain genres of music. I can understand that and admire the better musicians or gear builders for what they do. The rest of the people like to rant/rave/complain about everything including each other. It sounds like a bunch of old women complaining to each other.

That being said I learned a lot more about guitar amps and have a cool combo amp collection that I find usable for my cover band gigs. There are good players over there as well, but there musical expertise is in a different genre of music than what this forum is into. I also like how the lesser known amp builders share the latest mods or offer services to help folks looking to improve their amp sound. Some of the posters like John Mayer and a few other knowledgeable players or guitar/pedal/amp builders have been chased off from TGP because some of the posters don't agree with the professional musicians or guitar/pedal/amp builders opinions.

I like the hot chicks with guns on this thread. What a way to start a Friday morning!

I agree about that. Italo De Angelis and a few other guys on that forum are a treasure trove of knowledge after the Huge Racks Inc. website went offline last year.

I'm not a fan of modern day liberals and TGP seems to be full of them.

My hyperbolic over-generalizations:

Rig-Talk = working and former pros/semi-pros who are in their early 30s - early 50s, who've grown-up and developed their careers successfully enough to support their boutique gear habit... which tends to lean towards surgically-precise playing and looking axes and multi-channel amps with high-gain options mostly voiced in the hot-rod Marshall vein. JCM800 era tones being indicative of a starting point for "holy grail" tone. Hardly a shit can be found to be given regarding super old school simple amps and guitars (see below), nor is an over-abundance of respect to be found for yuppy players who never paid their dues gigging in the trenches. They like to debate controversial topics and are confident enough in themselves to be able to do so without pants-wetting fear of offending someone or making them uncomfortable.

TGP = doctors and lawyers who never gigged seriously, some of whom may gig with their gray-haired professional buddies now "for fun", and have an even snootier boutique gear habit... which leans towards EXPENSIVE classic designs of Leo Fender in guitars and amps (whether real Fenders or boutique clones). Fender Champ type circuits being the holiest of grails. Players who spent time making a living by gigging (see above) aren't worthy of respect if they can't afford the finer things in gear. They put on the charade of piously avoiding subjects likely to stir spirited debate... all the while dropping condescending remarks that support their own left-leaning view of the universe.

Totally painting with a broad brush here... but those are the general observations and stereotypes that I've witnessed over the past several years. Doesn't mean that I don't visit both places, but I only stroll through the other place periodically like a coach-class ticket-holder walking through the first-class section on his way to his tiny seat. Sure, first-class looks pretty nice... but I'm just not into being that uptight and don't want to fork-out the extra dough for a trip that ends at the same terminal.

I can agree with this viewpoint. You're on point with this perspective.
