I got the email too, and the pickup sounds to be amazing, but I'm REALLY on the fence about what pickup to get!

+1 I have 2 Les Pauls I want to pit BKP's in and now I am even more confused!!
I tried four different sets in my LPC and the Rebell Yells won it for me in that guitar.

Rebel Yell was one of my choices as was Painkiller and now Aftermath, decisions..... What was it that sold you on the Rebel Yell?
I cannot put my finger completely on it, but I know it had to do with the smoothness of the upper mids, low treble. The pickup just sounded better and more balanced than the others I had tried in the LPC.

Thanks for the input, I will give that one a go first then, I have a feeling I will love it!!

Rebel Yell is a rock pickup to hard rock, it is not for metal, it can do metal but there are other pickups with much more output. I agree with everyone your best bet will be to email tim at bkp with the guitar you are going to have them fit in, the music you play and sound you are looking, he is never wrong...No one knows bkp like the maker

Thanks Nico, Tim recommended the Painkiller or Aftermath for my Les Pauls and the Rebel Yell as another option. He said based on some of my stuff he thought the Aftermath would be a great choice.

Tim is a shredding player as well as a great guy. Cannot wait to get a few sets of pickups from him.

Rebel yell is fine for metal, its tight on the lows.... It may not be as aggressive as some others though

He suggested the Aftermath for me too over the Warpig based on the potentiality of the warpig proving "quite dark" in a Gibson V. Well, this leaves me in a conundrum. I love the term dark sound, And typically enjoy dark sounding guitars that make all the girls visiting my home run away and the dudes tell me to try playing acoustic. Too dark may be bad, but quite dark sounds good to me, and I find I think that the Aftermath sounds TOO sterile in my ears, whereas the ceramic pig sounds heavier, edgier, (less sterile).

Do I listen to advice or go on an instinct?

Do you have any clips of your LPC with the rebell yell? What other BKP's did you try in your LPC? I have a Painkiller in my Caparison and that thing just rules, but I want a different BKP in my LP, you know...to have some diversity

I'd take into consideration the the acoustic properties of your V also. I tried A-Pigs & C-Pigs in an all mahogany PRS Mira that was naturally dark sounding and very resonant. It naturally had a round, low-middy tone without much high end attack at all. When I had the Pigs in it was not tight or clear. I could boost and get a good sound, but without a boost it was mess. On the other hand, I put the C-Pig in a LP Custom with more high end attack & a naturally more balanced & compressed sound and it was just crushing. Still dark, but tight, edgy, & thick. Cut through in a two guitar band & brought the walls down. No boost needed either and this was going into the same amps. So if your V is balanced, with some high end attack, & is naturally tight you could probably pull off the Pigs. If it's acoustically warm, with a round attack, & overly resonant I'd be hesitant getting the Pigs.

The Painkiller is a kickass pickup. I got one a few months ago and have been loving it in my '76 LPC. You should definitely check one out.
