Need the most authentic line level from a tube amp to use with a modeler
either in a loop or in front.

- don't need a speaker thru
- don't need an attenuated out
- no re-amping
- won't be using any IRs

Have used both a Power Station and Ironman but just for attenuation/re-amping.
Never used the line out on either.

Is a used non-IR Suhr box the clear winner?

Suhr or custom made ISO box.

I have two custom made Suhr units for this stuff. One has a volume pot for added control.

Little rectangle one? If so, yes. Its good.

You can likely have one made for cheap. Like $50. There isnt much to it.

Doesn't it have a transformer as the load or is it just power resistors?

Never mind.

Ironman doesn't need a fan which is nice.

The Suhr unit is just a line level from an amp. You still need a load on the amp like a speaker or attenuator. It wasn’t clear you needed attenuation as well…so the Suhr ISO box will NOT work for you.

I think there's some confusion. The production Suhr RL doesn't need a speaker.
It burns off the juice with those resistors. It does have an optional speaker thru.

The Ironman uses the transformer as the main reactive load and then all of the
extra stuff is for the attenuation steps.

I was hoping the RL also used an audio transformer cause I don't need increments.

I’ve used a Suhr RL for years with my AxeFx, works perfect.
Gtr->pedals->amp->Suhr RL -> Studio Monitors. I can either play my amps that way or plug straight into the Axe-Fx and use i only the AxeFx, no cable swaps or anything.
The Axe Fx is used for CabIR and effects when running through an amp head

So yes, the Suhr RL will work great they way you described.

Just to be clear, this would be the other chain?

Gtr > pedals > amp > Suhr RL > Axe main input?

You're not using any loops? I'm hoping it'll work with the QC like this.
Also, you think the tone and more importantly feel is spot on?

Yep, no loops, just like that, works great. I add any time based effects in the AxeFx of I need to.
Yes, love the tone.

i don’t have many recordings, here is a SLO demo I did exactly that way. Fast forward to about 1:20 for the amp.

And here is a song I recently made this way for the Gear Gods song contest. Video not published (set to private) yet until he can review it, but you should be able to teach it via the link. This has a lot of layers, some amps->SRL->Axe and some just the AceFx
