Bogner 2x12 Standard Closed Back Cab Ohms?

I just picked up this cab used and can't find any info on the Bogner site regarding what Ohm these cabs run at? Anybody here have one that knows? :confused:

It's loaded with two 16 Ohm Celestion Vintage 30's. I don't know how to tell whether or not they are wired series etc. etc. I am assuming that it is an 8 Ohm cab but I don't really know. I do know that it's the stock 2x12 standard closed back (not the 2x12 Shiva cab).

Got a digital multimeter?

Set it to read ohms, plug in a guitar cable into the cab. touch one lead of the multimeter to the tip of the cable, and the other lead to the sleeve. :thumbsup:
 
2 speakers 16ohms wired in parallel = 8ohms. 2 speakers 8ohms in parallel would be 4 ohms.

I forgot I had a Digital Multimeter, & it works great!

Man, I gotta say, this cab sounds ridiculously good with my Triaxis rig! Not so much with my Diezel Einstein though? :confused: It's weird, I use a Mesa 1x12 Widebody open-back cab with my Einstein and I have yet to pair anything else with it that sounds as good. On the flip side, that same 1x12 doesn't sound as good with the my Stiletto or Triaxis. My Stiletto sounds best with a stock Marshall 1960B that I have, yet that cab kinda blows with all the other amps. It's interesting how certain things match up & other's don't. Kinda makes me want to start messing around with speaker replacements & whatnot although I don't think my sanity or pocketbook can afford to go down that "Rabbit Hole"! :lol: :LOL:

Anyway, sorry for being long-winded & thanks again for all ya'll's help! :thumbsup:
 
Its got to be wired for 8 ohms, in series it would be 32 ohms, I know they did not do that. You can look at the wires, if its hot to hot, and ground to ground, the impedance is cut to half. Did it measure 8 ohms when you put a meter across it? I have seen several that did not measure what they were supposed to. I asked my amp tech about this thinking I may have had some voice coil damage, he said an accurate meter will never show an exact rating on a multi-spkr setup at the jack. Anyone seen different? would be interested to know.

A digital multimeter will just measure the DC resistance of the voice coil and not measure the AC component to the Impedance, so what you measure will be less than 4, 8, or 16ohms. But pick the closest one. 8ohms should measure between 6 and 7.5ohms with the meter....
