Good tones, good player but wouldn't let him near my kid
His dosage is just, not sure if he’s taking too little or too much, but it’s definitely still in the tweaking stages. 🤣

I have been following Marcus Deml for many years. In fact, he is one of my favorite guitarists of all time -- and one of the friendliest and nicest people I have ever met.

I first heard him on records by Kingdom Come -- particularly the album Twilight Cruiser -- when I was a teenager, in the mid-’90s. His tones were absolutely mind-blowing. Later, when I gained access to the internet, I managed to reach out to him. He confirmed that the original recordings were done using a Bogner Fish and a Mesa/Boogie 2:90, paired with one of his Strats. What a fantastic tone. You can look it up on YouTube by searching “Kingdom Come - Twilight Cruiser.”

Lately, Marcus has been deeply into vintage Marshall amps, and his Fish had been sitting unused while the Boogie needed repairs. I’m thrilled he got it fixed and made this video. Also check out his “Guitar Junkie” series - an inspiring collection of insights into his tone and playing.
He always records through his Marshall 4x12" where he swapped the speakers to Vintage 30s somewhere around 1988-1992. He uses Tul G12 as the only mic.

Inspired by his journey, I built my own rig based on an original vintage Fish and a Boogie 2:90. I use OCD as a booster to tighten the pick attack and pair it with a different Strat. You can check it out here:

Paired with a good power amp,the fish is a lot of fun. While he has an early serial # fish.Mine is the last one of the og run.

Great info. Thanks for that! I enjoyed your clip as well. Nice tone and playing! (y)

Sounds great for sure. Fish has always had my interest though assume my XTC Classic gets close in some sense. But Cantrell used one obv, believe Rust In Peace had some Fish, and also fair amount of Chris Poland in Ohm. Great tones all around.

I have both the earlier serial with black knobs and the late version of the OG with the white knobs (on the video). There is no particular tonal difference I could catch. The reissue sounds a bit different though, a tad brighter and snappy. Could be a difference due to different tubes though, but still triggered me to sell it as OG was more to my liking.
