I know for a fact my JVM will be worth maybe $500 in 10 years but dont care right now
$500 per knob if you can keep them intact.
Everyone else's plastic shaft knobs are gonna bust off.

Be funny to see a guy on stage with one and all he has left are the treble and volume knob...tone's all muddy/farty, preamp gain to the max and he can't fix it.

Well that about kills this odd and very weird talk about investing in current guitar amps.........................................................................

(mocking reference relating to "investing in things that tend to not hold their value, but for some reason a bunch of people thought it was a good idea..." thing...)

So, you're saying that I should buy a Harley, not ride it and keep it in the garage, and I can sell it for more than I paid for it in a couple years?

Harley saturated the market because share holders told them to, used prices have fallen off the cliff and show rooms are full of bikes going nowhere.

So no Jeff, do not buy that mid life crisis low powered scooter because it will not go up in value.

In the end if you are worried about resale you probably cant afford it in the first place.

I was being very sarcastic, and was mocking how people actually bought into this ideal...

This is why I buy used, and at the best deal I can find. I have a little more than current price in my Bogner, but if I ever sold it and compared what I lost $$$ wise with how much playing enjoyment I've had, it's fine with me.

I bought my Fractal standard for $1250 used. I think it's still selling for around that, even if I lost a hundy or two compared to how much use I've had, it's still a wash.

Jeff, how much did you lose on those new Marshalls you bought? TSL, JVM? :)

Quite a bit - about the same margin as every other piece of gear I've sold...TSL was bought at $1429 (new). Sold it at $1100. JVM (first time) was bought at $1850 (new), sold it at $1200. Bought it again later for $1750 (new). Bought Metro Plexi Kit at $1000, sold at $600, bought another later, $1000, sold it for $850...Orange bought at $2200, sold at $1600.

That being said, I've never owned a POD passed it's 30-day return policy, so I guess if you take that into account, I've never lost anything on a POD...lol

However, you see them going for how much now, when a few years ago, they were how much again? Quite a loss...

Well, someone bought a standard for 1499 and sold it to me for 1250... Looks to me like the Axe FX so far holds up better value-wise than a Marshall, at least for recent ones. :)

I bought my axe last year - what are the standards selling for now? $1200ish?

Scott Peterson tried an Ultra out for a week and is now stepping up to that...has his Standard listed for $1400 shipped...has the silent faninstalled - current firmware.

Jarrett from TGP is selling his Standard for $1400 or so as well after stepping up to the Ultra....Jarrett is a former World Class Gear Slut too, gigs regularly with the AxeFx

I guess we'll just have to see which holds it's value better in 2-3 years.

My vote is Bogner.

I don't know, I wasn't raised where "close enough" is GOOD enough. ;)

this thread could be replaced with line 6 or mesa boogie rectifier? history repeats itself. it took me 2 xtc`s to figure out that a good nmv marshall /a boost and an overdrive kicks the xtc to the curb. spend on. stimulate the economy. oh and bogner `s reliabilty can have issue`s :aww:

Ohhhhh I sense some jealousy there...they're getting an ultra and you're not.

Honestly, I wouldn't even use one if I had one. I use a single channel amp and I don't even use OD pedals, I have no use for something that does 100 things. I'm just more saying, who cares what someone else does. I mean, if you admire their playing...great. But that doesn't mean it's going to work for you, or whatever they do is what everyone else should do.

No one does, if you read what the post was in response to, it was more regarding the unit price...

I care cause that is internet forum history right there, the original Scott axefx!!!!

Come on, you know in 3 years someone could chime in and say he owns Peterson's old axefx and we would all know about it :D We are almost talking Fab roadsign level now!!!

Ugh................still waiting for standards to be under $1000 anyways.
