I have two Rockman XP100 stereo heads. Cool for that Boston tone and ahead of their time when they came out. True stereo, ping pong delay, compression etc...
Phil Collen used to use the Rockman modular heads. I remember playing through the head/cab rig as pictured above at Pianos 'n Stuff near Pittsburgh back in the mid 80's...sounded awesome to me at the time and led to the purchase of a Sustainor (still have it).

I disagree, these were production, but very low numbers. I'd also swear that there was one larger, that had a solid state power amp section on the bottom, and something like 4 1/2 rack space units stacked above it, all in a single head case... but I can't find proof of this currently.
edit.. it was the 500 Modular (I knew I wasn't crazy, lol
someone else also striked my memory, the interview was with Phil Collen and he mentioned the need/use of the cabinets plus needing Tom to do a favor on them, simply amazing pieces of equipment
anyone else have any tips on the live or studio tone? i actually like the live tone myself, cuts like a knife imho. the studio recorded tone though is killer
I went to NAMM in Atlantathe year those came out. Tom and Gary Phil were demoing them. It was pretty cool. Both were cool to talk to. Tom playing an old gold top. Not sure if it was the goldtop.
I disagree – AP bro. Selling a few items (whatever they may be), then dropping the item(s) due to non-interest is "production and marketing failure". The Rockman is still in production as we speak today - since 1982. Although operated and owned now by Dunlop, not TS.
BTW - the Rockman MIDI foot controller is great. I still have mine and my FCB1010.

Those are what came to mind when I first read this thread - but I remember seeing that other pic of the Rockman overkill set-up! (sarcasm - I love that pic)
Scholz did some interviews in which he talked about the necessity of building that equipment due to the inconsistent day to day sounds out of heads. He talked about how he quantified everything and felt that even the humidity of the speaker cone was part of the equation!! I will try to find that article and post it. He also spoke a lot about the brand of tape and how it compressed the guitars in a certain way which when I read the Michael Wagener thread made me laugh seeing as how Lynch was using that Fostex as a part of the signal chain.
