Breaking in V30s sucks!

Got a new cab a few weeks ago loaded with V30s and I hate breaking them in. It's almost painful. Next to my broken in v30s the difference is ridiculous. It almost feels like going to work when I plug in to the new ones. Gotta put that time in though, knowing that in that in the not so distant future...things will be just fine. Just had to get that out there. Similar sentiments?

I bought a Harley Benton 2x12 cab recently, which has brand new V30's in it. It's been horrible having to play it while they're slowly breaking in..

V30 speakers are fucking hideous sounding when they're new/not broken in... But once they break in properly, they sound amazing!! I have another cab with the same speakers, just heavily broken in, and it's the best sounding cab i have ever owned!

If you have a guitar with a neck humbucker, that helps break in the speakers faster because there is more low frequency power. Also playing on the clean channel cranked up really loud can help break it in faster than the red channel.

you can break em im VERY Quickly .......... try this:

clean channel, turn the amp LOUD and set the mids a bit high, and play full round basic chords like E, A, F for 10 minutes of so.............the speakers should feel a lot better.

I really think this is why some people hate V30s, they haven't played a properly broken in speaker.

That's what I've found as well. I'm interested in trying out Joey's recommendation though.

yeah, but maybe you've been playing with gain......try it on the clean channel. and just do basic chords, try not to slap the strings too hard, again, the amp must be LOUD and on the clean channel with a fairly hight level of mids (turn down the treble) and bass set to moderate levels. 10 - 15 minutes.......

it's the most air you're gonna move and the speakers will move the most.

If it was me....I'd find a place to setup the amp, use a looper and record some riffs and then come back in a few hours lol

Yeah, I usually do about the same thing, blanket over the cab, loud, very little gain, basic lower note chords, bass and mids up, treble low,about 30 minutes a day for a couple of days.

What I did on one of my cabs was take each speaker out and put them one at a time in my ISO box. I then cranked the bass, mids and treble and put on my whammy DT pedal set to a much lower octave and varied it in between. Took a lot less time to break them in. They sound so much better after it is done.

Alas....for my next cab, I'll be doing the same thing.

Take a 9VDC converter and snip the pin off. Solder the two wires to a 1/4" plug (tip and sleeve). Lay your cab face down and plug in your contraption. Leave it for 24 hours to moan and groan.

Complete satisfaction the next day!

Take a 9VDC converter or any wall wort plug commonly used for your pedals.
Or, use a Pedal Power and one of the power leads.
Cut the pin off the end.
Separate and strip the wires.
Get a normal 1/4" TS plug.
Solder one of the wires to the tip and the other to the sleeve, just like making a cable.
You now have a 1/4" 9VDC phone jack.
Plug it into the wall or power up your Pedal power and plug the other end into the speaker jack.
This will flex the speaker in and out 60 times a minute (hertz cycle).
I always lay mine with the grill to the ground as it makes a bit of noise.
Let it run for 24 hours for break in.

Never did this, but its an easy way to work a speaker that most people dont know of.
