Since I'm on my soap box......

I have read the Cherry Bomb manual from front to back and I don't think this is mentioned anywhere. Specifically, when you kick on the Solo Boost on the Rod channel, is it simply a volume boost, or is there a boost in the Gain level as well? If there is a Gain level boost, would it be possible to dial in the Rod channel for a great uncompressed rock tone and then kick on the Solo Boost to get into more compressed and higher gain "liquid sustain" territory?

Great question from up there, been wondering the exact same thing!

The SOLO switch simply changes the master on the ROD channel. All the masters have my three way saturation switch, so you can do exactly what you suggest. Set the saturation switch on the solo master for a blistering lead tone and you can switch from a clean PLEX channel sound or a crunchy ROD channel rhythm sound to that lead tone instantly from the footswitch. You can set the SOLO master for a volume increase as well. So, yes, you can get a gain and volume increase with the ROD switch - that is the whole point.

This is actually discussed in the manual...

I'm an idiot. Having owned a CCV, and given it has a similar control layout (gain switches above the masters) I totally should have known this and/or figured it out on my own. Sorry for asking.

I would love to see a vid clip where the amp is dialed in for crystal clean on the Plex channel, heavy crunch on the Rod channel and a killer gainey and saturated lead tone on the Solo boost, with the person demoing it flipping through the tones on the footswitch.

Here Here!! I've felt like CB had more to offer but the clips I've seen are a lot of the same.

Have you actually watched/listened to all of the video and audio clips on the website? There is everything from Hendrixy volume rolled off clean chording to 80s metulz.

It isn't that I disagree that there could be even more clips, and a pro shot video walk through will be awesome when I get to it. But there is more than Lynch and Jake opuses on the website in the various vids. In the vids, the guys are moving through the channels as well, which gives you an idea of what the amp can do.

Once again, you risk only return shipping to try the amp. My bet is you keep it...

How DARE you sir! Good day.

I SAID GOOD DAY!

You could also say that clips could kill sales opportunities if not done well. I like gear demos but how they translate to buying is subjective to the viewer. I like Ola's demos but they don't inspire me to buy the amps because I don't play metal that much anymore. Jason's recent Randall demos do intrigue because his demo reaches a wider demographic. Knowing what the amp can do in addition to playing it is what ultimately inspires. I would also say that Steve's reputation plays a major factor for me as well. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Steve. I have heard enough that I can tell this would be the perfect amp for me.

But are they demoing the amp in the buff? Only naked demos are of any value when it comes to understanding the TONEZ and versatility of maplifiers! :gethim:

OK, ok. I'll have another listen to the clips on your site. Maybe I missed one, or maybe you have added a few in the past few weeks/month.....

I watched the videos on your site and I really liked what I heard! That being said, most of each of the 5 videos were the gainy stuff I love but were primarily just that. There were a few chunks in 2 of those videos of cleaner, lower gain playing that I led me to believe the amp had more versatility to display. All I'm saying is that to expand on this in a video is desirable and would be appreciated. It wasn't a slam, just asking for more content on a product I'm interested in. :)

No offense taken at all and I agree more and more varied clips is alway better and I'm hoping that as more amps get out there, the owners will share clips of how they use the amp. I was just interested if you'd heard all the clips on the site, especially the '66 strat clip that Carl did because I thought that one showcased some interesting variety...

I definitely watched that clip a few weeks back and, not only did it sound great, but it reminded me of just how unfortunate it is that Carl no longer posts here.

Exactly! The Carl clips had the sort of stuff I was referring to. Your CB has some secrets to tell... I think you're right though, 10 days left to get a discount on knowing first hand right? ;)

Absolutely - let your own ears in your own room with your own guitars be the judge!

Carl is all over The Gear Page.

I like this thread. A rare case of the OP actually buying the amp being pimped in the thread. Too many corporate shills on Youtube these days.

Yeah, I have been spending a lot more time over there recently. I follow Carl's posts as much as I can. Love his build threads! :rawk:

Yeah, it's really cool, especially since I haven't had any contact with Octavio since he posted a review of the amp here when he first got it 8 months or so ago. Nice of him to do this with absolutely no prodding from me...
